What is up with this Karma rating?? I don't like that feature. This is not a Buddhist site. And how does the now listening to feature work?

Dude, chill.
If you don't have anything nice to say don't say it at all.

If you like what a particular poster says, you thought it was excellent, you can give him Karma points. It doesn't DO anything, but provides a system where we can start rating the people who make some really GOOD posts, and those who are more mediocre sit on the bottom.

Plus, it gives me some leverage for special features that I will implement for posters that are REAL good.

If you want me to change the name "Karma", think of a good one for me to change it to.

Dude, I am sorry. I don't think karma should be used on a Christian site in my opinion. I will try to think of a better name and let you know.

Good gracious! words in red, thread boxes changing colour! Too much technology!! "Scotty I need more power!"   ;D  ;D ;D

This is only an attempt at humour. In the event of real jokes the humour light will be lit.

I can't wait to find the other features, Robert.

I've explored the new things a bit.  The member map feature is interesting, and things seem to be going faster.  One minor point: it may be my aged eyes, but the green and orange shades used for member status are blurring into the purple background.  The other colours are quite visible. Is there something I should do to make a stronger contrast?

Thanks for your hard work addding things.

Gotta give props for the new features. Very cool. The member map is especially cool.

The only request I could think of (you give us new stuff and already we're requesting changes! :D :o ) is that, if possible, you keep a record of who gave someone their positive and negative "grace" points, and on what days. I think that would help to cut down on abuse. Just a suggestion (in the tradition of online fora, where a computer/console game will come out, and that day people will start threads asking for new stuff in the patch/next game). :)

I would disagre Paradosis, as I think keeping the vote anonymous will keep people truthful, rather than trying to kiss up or anything. Yet I can see the problems if someone has all negative smitings.

Plus its harder to explain mistakes that could be seen as a personal attack, as I smited someone I should have given a grace point too. Oops!

Friends,

If we get complaints about the smite feature we can always remove it.  A lot of features just came with the board and we have to remove them or edit them, for instance if you click on a certain feature it says "this person was too da**** lazy to fill out a..." when we had nothing to do with that. I sent an email to Bobby to change that.  So we'll see.

Thanks for posting!

Friends,

THanks for all the positive comments. It makes the work I did today all the more better! Thanks for being such a great community!!!

Some things need ironing out, mainly the colors, and as anastasios said, some of the messages. This board was originally stock code that we used to set it up, but as I have the time, I am rewriting various aspects and making it more in tune with Orthodoxy.

Anyway, keep the suggestions coming.  If you can think of something, I can code it. The 'grace' system is something we can have a little fun with. It has built in limits. IE u cant smite/applaud soomeone more than X times in X hours. I think i set it to 4 times an hour per person.

The Slave, if that is a smilie from another forum, you can't just post :name: and have it appear here.   The :name: is a shortcut that looks for a image file of that name on the same site.  If you want to put it here do this:

1. Find where the smiley appears.
2. Right click on the smiley and choose Properties
3. Copy the URL address
4. Paste it between [.IMG] [./IMG] tags in your message here(without the .)

If you need any more help, let me know.

I like the new quote boxes. They make the quotes really stand apart from the fresh text.

However, I have trouble seeing the light green used to ID a "Senior Member." Maybe it's just my eyes; I don't know, but it's hard to read.

I also liked the Russian crosses better than the new stars.

I don't want to sound negative, but I really don't like the grace/karma points: too much like a popularity contest, and too reminiscent of the the Fundies "amening" each other on other boards. Such a system could have a chilling effect on what members are willing to post.

Guys like Keble, who are not Orthodox yet have something very valuable to contribute, could pick up a lot of negative points and, as a result, chuck the idea of visiting this web site.

Maybe I'll go give him some brownie points right now myself! ;D

I agree with what Linus has said. I like the crosses too. They added an Orthodox feel to the board. As for the grace system, this could potentially intimidate newbies from the site.

Being a Machead - I can't right click ! It's actually 6 or 7 little green cheesy grins that are jumping up and down - very suitable at times for this place :D

And I am still getting that annoying Dialogue box coming up every time I access this thread - doesn't seem to be anywhere else ???

David,

They are fun - but no they weren't what I actually meant  - though they would do nicely :P. The ones I have seen and used are like the cheesy toothy grinning thing 4th from the left ;D - but in green and sort of randomly placed in an area about 2insX1ins.

They are on a board that I use http://www.chetnet.co.uk/portal/ and I think you can post as a guest. If you try it go to post and then click on more emoticons - there are some real crackers there ;D - would appeal to some of our dafter posters.

Some pretty fancy things have been added.  :)

The colour change for Sr. Member is much more readable. Thank you for changing it.  I hate to mention it, but the orange for "Full Member" is blurring into the darker purple background in particular.
