Everyday I try to read a quote from a Saint. There are so many I have, but this one was just random from my looking today:
If you believe what you like in the gospels, and reject what you don't like, it is not the gospel you beleive but yourself
Saint Augustine
Does anyone else have a quote from a Saint they like?

Thou hast made us for thyself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they find their rest in thee. - St. Augustine

My favourite quote from a saint is from St. Seraphim of Sarov : "Someone busy trying to understand himself has no time to notice the shortcomings of others - Judge yourself, and you will stop judging others."

A favorite from St. John Chrysostom-
"Are you here to praise someone and raise him in my esteem? Then gladly will I give ear and savor your conversation. But if you intend to speak ill of someone, let me stop now; I cannot stand filth and stench. What have I to gain by knowing that someone is evil? Would I not be losing something instead? Talk to him yourself, and let us mind only our business."

Well, my favorite is a specific verse from Psalm 94 (I think):
He who planted the ear, does He not hear? He who formed the eye, does He not see?
I find comfort in that quite often.

+ Irini nem ehmot,
Do not be always wanting everything to turn out as you think it should, but rather as God pleases, then you will be undisturbed and thankful in your prayer. by Abba Nilus

I stole this one from someone else's sig on another forum, but I like it nonetheless:
"The Scriptures are shallow enough for a babe to come and drink without fear of drowning and deep enough for theologians to swim in without ever reaching the bottom." - Saint Jerome
