Friends,
We are constantly trying to make OC.net the best Orthodox board on the internet (well next to our friend Nicholas's board of course!) With that in mind, I would like to poll you how you all found out about our site. That way, I can think of creative ways to get the word out.
Thanks!

I learned about this site back when we had a Message Board (of lesser quality) on Serge's site which was superseded by this one. In turn Serge's site superseded my site ( http://groups.msn.com/EasternChristianity--no longer in existance) which was begun because several members were banned from Byzcath.org for not towing the AMChurch Line. Most of us continued (and possibly continue to do so) to view the posts at byzcath.org but I finally got banned from there after calling them heritics for saying there is no difference between Protestant and Catholic and/or Orthodoxy. Awe, memories.

Gregory told me about it over at The-Board-That-Shall-Not-Be-Named. He said it was a good site and he was right. I have since invited a number of people here myself. Most of them have signed on, too.

"the slave" (Anhelyna) and I (Roman Catholics) were here when the original byz.org "crashed." And, perhaps, JoeZollars, then struggling with his traditonalist RC views.
anastasios, Mor Ephrem, Nik (ROCOR Cafe), serge (OldWorldRus.com), Brendan, (and JoeZollars, bripat/Brian, NDHoosier, MikeyStilts, Aklie Semaet, Orthodoc/Orthoman, OrthodoxyoOrDeath, Abdur, and others) were co-posters at byzcath.org when the brouhaha happened and led to the construction by Dustin (anastasios), Bobby, and Phil (Mor Ephrem) of this board.
I stayed put at both: byzcath.org (an open and welcoming board to all creeds) and OC.net (with emphasis on Orthodoxy).
And then came this exciting group of Hypo-Ortho (I think you were here much earlier), Seraphim Reeves (ditto), paradosis (ditto), David, Linus7, Oblio, prodromos, Keble, Monkey, Frobisher, Elisha, sinjinsmythe, and others.
Now, this board rocks!

I came here as one of the many refugees from Catholic Answers Forum. November 2007. All but a few Orthodox were thrown off CAF because the owners of the Forum became concerned about the number of Catholics becoming Orthodox. I always felt that their concern was in order since (as they pointed out themselves) they never intended to provide a Forum where Catholics came into contact with the Orthodox and the Catholics started converting. For their part the Orthodox had never intentionally tried to convert Catholics; it was just a serendipity effect of our presence on CAF. .... So we found OC.net and the owners here were very welcoming to us. GreekChef's husband told me about it after Bible Study one evening. This was when I had first started attending their parish (like literally three days before), and had not met Presbytera yet. I was discussing something with him and he said, "My wife goes on this forum, OrthodoxChristianity.net or something. You should go on it sometime. I think you would like it." He was right.

Is there any reason that in the poll there are 2 entries for: "I'm a convert from a non-Christian sect" ?
I found this group while one day surfing the web looking for an orthodox group, since I was getting tired of the fighting on the "Forum" and the "Indie" lists. Glad I found this site.

I found a reference on a blog to the shutdown of the old Orthodox forum on Catholic Answers, including a ban placed on several members (including a few Catholic ones). There is an "Eastern Catholic" forum at CA, but it is a shadow of the old forum. The blog said that the discussion had migrated over her, and so.... I went over here to scan it from start to finish.

Friends,
We are constantly trying to make OC.net the best Orthodox board on the internet (well next to our friend Nicholas's board of course!) With that in mind, I would like to poll you how you all found out about our site. That way, I can think of creative ways to get the word out.
Thanks!

And now that forum, http://EuphrosynosCafe.com is Fr. Anastasios' forum. Funny how 7 years can change everything. Back at the beginning, Fr. Anastasios, Bobby, Mor Ephrem, and I were the 3 admins, and now we are all gone from this site as day-to-day folks, and a whole new crew runs the place. I would have never guessed how we all (and not just jurisdictionally!) would have changed since this site started.

I'm not a member there, but since it is a different forum, I would think you would have to register as a new poster there.
