Not to rain on anyone's parade, but shouldn't there be a difference between an actual title and a description or descriptive phrase?

Well, the intention of actually giving a title would be a place to start. If my boss hits me on the back as he goes past and says "How you doin' today big guy?" that doesn't mean that I now have the title "big guy". Nickname, maybe (though that would require some repetition), but title no. Jesus is clearly given titles in Scripture, such as "King of Kings" or "Son of man". He is also clearly given titles by tradition, such as "God-man". But calling him "Friend of those who do His will" is more a description than a title. Personally, I think it's more profound to call someone "my friend" as a description than to get all formal and make it into some title... but maybe that's just me.  Cool

Asteriktos,

What's your beef with God anyhow? What's your story and why did you begin to struggle with God since 1997? Why don't you believe? What are you looking for on this forum?

Strong suggestion: let's not get this thread off-track asking Asteriktos about his struggles.  If you really want to know, PM him please.

I simply thought that as his profile is associated with his every post and he hasn't shied away from publicly presenting his current spiritual beliefs, then he wouldn't mind publicly describing the reasons behind them...if he likes though he can pm me his reasons or start a new thread altogether...you seem a lot more the type of person who is open to discussion, Asteriktos...

Frankly, I am not sure why titles are important.
Is not knowing him most important -no matter what descriptive phrase or title is used?
I have to admit, I never knew all these titles/descriptions before, but I don't really think I missed out on Jesus because of it.

Why all this negativity ? Does not a study of the titles and descriptions of Jesus Christ teach us more about who he is?
