Are there tons of Organizations within Orthodoxy like in RCC?
RCC has so many, Legionaries, Opus Dei, knights of Colombus, etc., so many I would never be able to even find a link to them all.
Is this how Orthodoxy is? A ton of "special" groups that do special things?
Just wondering. I kind of like the idea of the charity and stuff but I don't like the idea that some of these groups try to act as if - well, that if you are not in their group then somehow you are not "Catholic" enough.

Yes, the Orthodox Church in America, for instance, has lots of clubs and organizations.

There are many organizations that are Pan Orthodox as shown by the post before this.  These organizations try to be inclusive  rather than exclusive and are rich ways to give voice to your particular interests with other Orthodox people.

There are also specialized supporter groups like the Greek Orthodox =Archons,The Leadership 100,FAITH: AN ENDOWMENT FOR ORTHODOXY & HELLENISM, In the Antiochian Archdiocese = The Order of St Ignatius, The OCA's fellowship of Orthodox Stewards.  These groups require sizeable financial donations and in some cases additional service but often provide needed funding for sometimes strapped jurisdictions and Patriarchates.

As a former Catholic, I would say no, it's not to the same extent as Catholicism has. You basically have some lay brotherhoods/sisterhoods, but nothing like religious orders in the West.

Past posts reflect stages of my life before my baptism and may not be accurate expositions of Orthodox teaching. Also, I served as an Orthodox priest from 2008-2013, before resigning.

Thanks everyone!

I like how Thomas said inclusive rather than exclusive.
That is the problem I have with some groups.
There should be no "I am a "whatever group" so I am more "Catholic".
It just seems wrong to me. If you are doing good in the Church, you should not let others feel inadequate if they are not in said group.
How does that saying go?
Don't let the left hand know what the right hand is doing???
I don't know, but to me it smacks of snobbery and eliteism.
