« on: May 15, 2006, 08:53:01 PM »
In the Icon below of St. David of Thessalonica, is that King David to the left of St. David?

Yup. That's what the Icon says.

Yes the title over his head is an abbreviated form of writing "Prophet David", which is a reference to King David.

The scroll has Ps 92:12 (NIV) written on it:  The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar (of Lebanon)

The part in parenthesis isn't on the scroll.
"O Cross of Christ, all-holy, thrice-blessed, and life-giving, instrument of the mystical rites of Zion, the holy Altar for the service of our Great Archpriest, the blessing - the weapon - the strength of priests, our pride, our consolation, the light in our hearts, our mind, and our steps"
Met. Meletios of Nikopolis & Preveza, from his ordination.
