Holy Martyr Justin the Philosopher

« on: April 24, 2006, 06:51:02 PM »

Family situation is deteriorating again regarding opposition to my pursuit of Orthodoxy.  I would like to say I have been innocent during this whole process that has stretched out for 3 years now.  I can say I have heeded my Spiritual Father's encouragement and direction to stay merciful and loving for the past 2.5 years but it takes a long time to undo a first wrong impression(s) and initial zeal that wasn't accompanied with enough mercy.  Within hours of the Pashca Liturgy, it was all coming to a head again.  I was too tired to sit through that again and have tabled this confrontation for yet a while longer.  But I have been hurt and betrayed by family on all sides and that includes my spouse.  I am still tired.  I am hurt and feeling defeated.  I have a major project due for graduation.  I am stretched thin.

I thank everyone for their prayers and let me know if I can pray for anything for ya'll.

Lord, have mercy.  May the joy of the Lord's resurrection and victory over death and the powers of darkness  be made manifest to you.  "  'Oh death where is your sting?  Oh hades, where is your victory?'  Christ is risen and the demons are fallen!  Christ is risen, and the angels rejoice!  Christ is risen, and not one dead remains in the grave!"  (taken from the paschal homily of St. John Chrysostom.)

James Bob, a sinner.

Religion is a disease, and Orthodoxy is its cure.

Lord, have mercy.

If you're living a happy life as a Christian, you're doing something wrong.

Scooter, you have my prayers.  I know what it's like to be in some opposition with spouse over this issue and it's rough going at times.
Lord have Mercy!

"The grace of God has appeared..."

Lord, have mercy.

"...you could not bear, Master, in the compassion of your mercy to watch the human race being tyrannised by the devil, but you came and saved us. We acknowledge your grace, we proclaim your mercy, we do not conceal your benevolence..."
