General Confession
« on: April 19, 2006, 08:08:55 PM »
Hi everyone.  As Easter is coming upon us - glory to God - (my favourite time of year), I have a question about something before the Good Friday service tomorrow.

Before Matins with the Burial Service of the Shroud tomorrow evening, Good Friday, there is going to be a General Confession.  I've only ever had normal confession before the Bible, Cross and priest, but have never been to a General Confession, so have no idea what it is.  So, what is General Confession, how do you confess and prepare yourself, and what does it involve?

Thanks.

My priest has been very specific in teaching that the general confessions that he has conducted are actually a preparation for individual confessions. They can be helpful even if there is nothing specific that you believe requires confession.
