Forgiveness Thread 2006
« on: March 05, 2006, 12:43:43 AM »
Dear in Christ,

Please forgive me for all I have done to offend each and every one of you. As an administrator, I am sure many of my decisions have offended and/or hurt at least some if not many and for the times when it could have been avoided, my sincerest apologies.  One incident which especially comes to my mind is when I approved of a censure of Stavro without thoroughly weighing both sides of the issue, when he should have received no more punishment than his opponent.  Forgive me, please.

If I slandered anyone or gossiped, forgive me and pray that I won't do this again.

If I judged any of you unfairly bretheren, please forgive me and pray for me.

To anyone who may have hurt me, I can't recall, becuase anything done against me has been forgiven and was probably deserved in the first place.

In Christ,

Anastasios

Brothers and Sisters,

Please forgive me for all that I have done to you, through word and through deed.

May the Lord have mercy on all of us, and allow us to see forgiveness and love in one another this Lenten season.

In my heart, I bow with my face to the ground to each and every one of you, and ask you to forgive me for my many offences to you.
For my sharp tongue, for my idle talk, for hurting your feelings, for failing to speak when I should have, for speaking when I shouldn't have and for any way in which I have offended and scandalized you.
May the Lord remember us all when He comes in His Kingdom.

I wish  a profitable Fast both for those who will Fast and for those who will not, and look forward to seeing you all again when those who have fasted and those who have not fasted come and dance together when we worship Christ's Holy Resurrection, as St. John Chrysostom tells us.
If you're living a happy life as a Christian, you're doing something wrong.

There can't be a forgiveness thread without me in it  :D

I'm sure i've undoubtedly offended some (if not most) people, whether directly and with intention, or indirectly and without intention. I've met some good and kind people on this board, and I genuinly hope they don't hold anything i've said or done against me. I've also met quite a few people that I dislike, and that i'm sure I have caused to feel great dislike for me in return; may God forgive me for harbouring such negative emotions and for inspiring them in others.

I wish everyone a blessed Fast,

To my brothers and sisters, mothers and fathers in Christ,

To those I have offended throguh my 'aggressive' moderating and shutting down of threads---please forgive me.

For those who I have offended by my posts or poor attempts at humor, please forgive me.

To those who have been harmed in any way by me, whether by word, or deed, or thought--please forgive me.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

I'm a new member and, although I don't know any of you well, I ask forgiveness of any offence I may have caused in any of my posts.

I'll be away until after Pascha and I hope that you all have a blessed Lent and Great Week.

God be with you all. ÂÂ

"God Forgives" is the reply at Forgiveness Vespers in the Antiochian Tradition.  You still must forgive.  ::)

Actually, I don't think anyone here has really offended me.  You are all very nice.  However, I would like to ask forgiveness of anyone I have offended with any rude or careless comments.

Forgive me, a sinner.

God forgives, and I forgive.

See y'all after Pascha.

Quote from: Forgiveness Vespers
Let us begin the fast with joy!
Let us prepare ourselves for spiritual efforts!
Let us cleanse our soul and cleanse our flesh!
Let us abstain from every passion as we abstain from food!
Let us rejoice in virtues of the Spirit and fulfill them in love!
That we all may see the Passion of Christ our God,
and rejoice in spirit at the holy Pascha!

Indeed (actually, not just the Antiochian Tradition).  As the priest who gave the homilies both yesterday after Vespers and during liturgy said, "If you are 'trying' to forgive someone, then God is just 'trying' to forgive you as well."  One must fully forgive.

As much as it could mean on an internet message board, I echo the same sentiment:

Forgive me, a sinner.

God forgives, and I forgive.
