I know we no longer list the important Orthodox feast days and fasts on the calendar, but is there a way we can maybe not have the pagan holidays like the Vernal Equinox be noted?

Come on Nik, half the holidays we have are of a pagan origin. Plus the vernal equinox is the longest day of the year, so it doesn't even have a pagan conotation to it.

Why isn't Pascha on the calendar? You have Earth Day on there, so why aren't feast days and other important days on the church calendar? Huh

I agree that the days marking the changes of the seasons are religiously neutral. BTW, not to annoy by being pedantic, but the longest day of the year, in terms of sunlight, is the solstice that begins summer (June 21 in the Northern Hemisphere, Dec. 21 in the Southern). The winter solstice six months later is the shortest day of the year. The vernal and autumnal equinoxes are so called because on only those days, day and night are equally long.

Longest day in terms of sunlight?  Well, all that goes of course assuming that clouds don't obscure the sun all day, which unfortunately up here (right now as I type in fact) is nature's way of pissing us off after enduring an entire winter (which usually takes a good chunk out of a spring month, March).  Two years ago, our "summer" was dreadful, without much sun thanks to so much cloudcover persisting over time.  Visibility here stinks at the moment.

I personally wouldn't have objections to calendars marking high and low points of seasonal astronomical cycles.  Some Muslim calendars show the point reached in the moon's waxing and waning cycle with each day.

Sinjin,

Because adding things to the calendar takes TIME, something that I am currently in a lack of.

If you would like to add things to the Calendar you may, everyone has access to it!

Hypo, do you mean "link to calendar"? I just now saw that button which will probably link a topic to the calendar.

Nik, I just checked our forum online calendar for April 27 and Holy Pascha is already there.  Great Thursday, Great Friday, Holy Saturday and Bright Monday are also already noted in April 2003.

Bobby

I did not know that everyone had access to the calendar.  Cool, then I can make some updates.
