Prayer for a new mission
« on: February 27, 2006, 02:36:26 PM »
Let us pray for a new mission that is forming in Lynchburg, VA.  If anyone is interrested, they are asking to use one of the western rites.
"The members of Christ Church, formerly a parish of the "continuing" Anglican Church, are to be received on March 5 as catechumens (those under instruction) in the Orthodox Church. The parish will petition to be a Mission Church of the Western Rite Vicariate of the Antiochian Orthodox Church."

That's interesting, Landon77 - and they have my prayers. I've heard of "Western Rite" within the Antiochian Jurisdiction and would be grateful if you could explain what that entails - (or point me to a web-site). :)

I think this website- WesternOrthodox.com -is the best place to start.  There are also many threads on this forum that discuss WROrthodoxy.

Thanks Landon77,

That site is VERY interesting! Sounds like there is some hope for Anglo-Westerners who are struggling to stay focused in ethnic parishes that are parochial and unwelcoming. :)

Are you Western-Rite?
