Everytime¦nbsp; I edit a¦nbsp; comment I find that suddenly the following code appears "nsbp;"¦nbsp; I noticed it does not only show up on my posts but others complicating the reading the corrected post.¦nbsp; Does it have a meaning or is it a glitch in the program?

I have also noticed a lot of question marks in the middle of sentences in posts. For instance, your post reads as follows: Everytime? I edit a? comment I find that... Is this occuring because I use Firefox? |

There is a bug somewhere in the encoding. We are looking for it. Ata ny rate, our site is optimized for Firefox, not Internet Crapsplorer.  |

Hmm. Obviously no Businees/Marketing majors calling the shots here! Let's market only to a niche, that does have the potential for explosive growth, but also has the potential to fizzle out; and let's insult and/or not work hard enough to integrate with the dominant force in the market... I think I learned this in ECON 101! Of course, I can say all this comfortable in the knowledge that I am a fox-er, and that IE only gets opened to use WindowsUpdate(TM). |

Hmm. Obviously no Businees/Marketing majors calling the shots here! Firefox has surged over the past two years and is steadily gaining market share. We optimize the site for Firefox because Firefox implements W3C standards correctly (standards which IE agreed to, btw). We then tweak the site to work in IE whenever IE implements things incorrectly. IE7 is set to fix many of the deficiencies IE has. It's unfortunate that due to Micro$oft's marketing, an inferior product is on top right now. However, unlike VCR winning out over Beta, the internet being open and relatively free explains why Firefox is such a serious competitor to IE. Even if it doesn't win, it has already done the web standards community a favor by forcing IE 7 to be much more web standards-observant.  If we just kept bending Web standards to Micro$oft because it is "the biggest browser" then we would in effect be retarding the growth of quality web design. I know that you are not a web designer and probably do not have much firsthand knowledge of the problems of coding for the web with IE being such a horrible, deficient browser (there are a lot of features in CSS 2.0 which would work really nice if IE would implement them correctly). And you have already said that you are all about the money, but for us, we want the site to be QUALITY, and that means being web-standards compliant.  Anastasios |

As much as it pains me to say, Explorer is actually a fairly good web browser, now it only operates on a poor operating system, but all in all it works fairly well. But, of course, my heart will always lie with the greatest web browser of all, one that recalls what the internet was supposed to be, a source of information and not eye candy, Lynx. But, alas, that great era seems to have come to a close, now everyone is worried about pics and other eye-candy...the porn industry has won (big surprise there), we all have to have a graphics based web browser.

Actually "nsbp" has no significance. However nbsp does. Explorer is a good browser. What I hate are web designers who create sites which only work with Explorer. It is both lazy and inconsiderate. I've actually had designers justify this by arguing that, "IE has 90% of the market, so we cater to the majority." I usually suggest that, if that is their business strategy, they should also refuse to answer every tenth call, and refuse admittance to every tenth customer coming through the door. |
