Forgive me for asking but what is up with all the llama references??

But of course, this is respectfully submitted.

I've wondered about this too.  Inquiring minds want to know!  ;)

A fondness for "The Emperor's New Groove"?  Someone lives on a llama ranch?  Ogden Nash reference?  We've got time to "listen".   ;)

Dear Friends:

While we await Bob's story, this was my take when I first encountered this original monicker common to all of us.

One of the most noticeable characteristic traits of LLAMAS is spitting! (Llamas or quechuas, are one of the 4 camelids of the genus Lama: alpacas, guanacos, and vicunias are the others. The camel, on the other hand, belongs to the genus Camelus which, together with the genus lama, belong the family Camelidea.)

For male llamas, the usual reason for spitting is to settle an argument over food or to decide who is the dominant llama. (A female will spit at a male to tell him to get lost and that she has, you know, been had by another male llama. ;))

Normally, they do not spit at humans unless they are provoked.

Their spit is chewed up grass. It smells awful but it washes off easily.

Now, would you not liken our Forum activity as akin to a "spitting contest," especially between Catholics and Orthodox? ;D

I guess its a inner circle thing, like in Meet The Parents.

I'm not into spitting, unless I have some Copenhagen.

That's just the way the people who coded the yabb software felt like doing it.  It is under the "personal message" section for each user, and that expression gets people's attention so they will change it to their own version.  Then people on this board started using other versions like "I'm an alpaca" etc.

This explains a lot and nothing.
Happy shall he be, that shall take and dash thy little ones against the rock. Alleluia.
