A few days ago I met online someone who hated God with all his soul, and yet denied His existence. I managed to bring him somewhat closer to Christ, and early yesterday he decided to visit an Orthodox Church. He hadn't heard of Orthodoxy before I talked to him, and after reading some Orthodox material, he realised that this was the Truth he had been searching for for so long, but had never known about it. Later that day, some non-Orthodox parties did something to make him remember why he left Christianity in the first place. I'm sure he would have projected that onto Orthodoxy as well, but for some reason he didn't. He got drunk because of what they did to him, and is now struggling very much with everything. Please pray for him. I feel this may be the most pivotal time in his life, and it right now stands on a knife-edge. I fear one wrong move may permanently destory his faith. Please, please please pray for him!  :'( Also, pray for me, that I may have the strength and wisdom to deal with this situation in accord with His will.

Update: He has decided to dedicate his life to Jesus, and on Sundays he is off will go church shopping. He is going to look at an Orthodox Church first. Thanks for all of your prayers.  Smiley

I have a similar situation with someone I'm talking to now. The ups and downs are not to be unexpected. We ourselves experience ups and downs in our faith sometimes, all the more reason they should be a natural element of someone path to the Church. It may take years, but hopefully not. I always wish for all people to enjoy as many of their years as possible inside the Church. God protect him from temptation and lead him through the gates of the Church!

Lord Jesus Christ,Son of God by the Mother of God,have mercy on us all

God bless you for evangelizing the good tidings.Maybe you should teach him the Jesus'[/color] prayer.I know Mariam our beloved Mother won't let him down just like the ark of the coveant she will protect him from heresies.

You can TRY to teach someone a prayer like that but the person can mentally counterargue "this is autosuggestion"! Be careful not to rush too soon. It's better that you recite that prayer for the benefit of that person than giving it to someone too soon. The Lord Jesus prayer requires a willful submission to Christ, that's quite a deep moment for someone. Bp. Kallistos Ware has that in his "The Orthodox Way" book, maybe it's better to give someone a copy of Bp. Kallistos' book, if they are truly ready enough to go that far they will read that section and discover it.

Just a thought, I might be wrong in this case.
