I gave up dreaming a long time ago...

« on: January 02, 2006, 12:46:12 PM »

I spent my New Year's Eve at my Catholic parish, got dressed up in the
amphea (or are they called rasa, the ones that laymen wear when helping
the priest at mass?) and had one of the best masses I can recall. The Church
was filled with people (most of them German and Greek), suprisingly, and
the whole atmosphere helped me remember that above all I am a Christian
and that as much as I am afraid that God might want me to become a priest
and (like in the case of JPII) even make me have some difficult time till I give
in, still... His will be done! I confessed and I still feel a much better person
since I haven't repeated any "big" sin since 31-December.
Also, after attending mass (and recieving communion), I found the flouri
in the vasilopita, probably a sign (or just luck Grin) that this year is going to be
a much better one since I entered 2006 with a clean soul.

Just thought of sharing my new year's experience and waste some web
space and bandwidth.  Grin
Happy New Year everyone!

So you un-re-converted and are Catholic again? I think you sound confused. You should probably stay off the internet for awhile or at least stop posting these "wow look I am in this Church now!!" updates.

To me it sounds like you are confused. I was invited by my ex- spiritual father from the RC Church,
which I could not turn down. Probably you should stay off the internet 'till you realise that
Christ told his disciples: "Την δική μου ειρήνη σας δίνω.". I did not pronounce the filioque
and the fact I recieved the azymae is because Western Rite Orthodox use azymae too.
So, don't go around acussing me of being azymitis, just like orthodox clergy did before you.

As a friend, I inform you Anastasios and sdcheung (you just might be right...once a catholic
prodoti, always a catholic prodoti. keep telling that to yourself 'till you feel you have the
εύνοια [if you know what it means, ellhnara mou] of Photius and Markos Evgenikos),
you know nothing of ecumenism and you will NEVER achieve union with the Latins
with hate and ignorance. Realise there never was one rite in the Church. There never
was just the East. Only with love (and sometimes sacrifing your own soul) is what will
take to achieve a union that will please both Earth and Heaven. Hate was not created by
God, it was invented by the Devil. The day before yesterday... I sacrificed my own soul,
yes I commited two sins. Recieved communion by a Catholic priest and confessed to
a catholic priest. But I also talked to him and brought him 0.000000001% closer to
Orthodoxy. Something all patriarchs and laymen since 1054 failed to do!!

I do not claim sainthood on my account. But I feel more Orthodox then you.

Forgive me sdcheung for quoting your PM, but I have to, in order to explain why I am so upset:
once a Catholic prodoti, always a Catholic Prodoti

God have mercy on me, but THIS is the first time I seriously reconsider
converting back to the Catholic Church.

P.S.:
Quote
...the name itself of Catholic, which, not without reason, amid so many heresies, the Church has thus retained; so that, though all heretics wish to be called Catholics, yet when a stranger asks where the Catholic Church meets, no heretic will venture to point to his own chapel or house.
— Against the Epistle of Manichaeus called Fundamental, chapter 4: Proofs of the Catholic Faith[6]
I don't think I did something TOO wrong.

Also, I will probably be leaving this forum. (I am not threating or anything,
I met some wonderful people here but I am afraid it is the same thing
as everywhere else. People find it hard to welcome me. It might
be their fault or mine. I will not get in details.)

So this could just be my last post here (unless of course I change
my mind, which would take a miracle to change so...).

I leave this forum just as I entered it. An Eastern Orthodox
thikning of become Roman Catholic. All thanks to someone
who claims as his heroes and πρότυπα, Photius and Markos Eugenicus.

Armando,

I didn't say what I said out of malice, but out of concern. You received communion from a Catholic priest, so you are not Orthodox, unless you go to confession with an Orthodox priest.  The reasonings you gave in your post are utterly confused, and while I could spend a lot of time answering them, you don't seem to be listening anyway.

I used to be an Eastern Rite Catholic and I know all about ecumenism. For you to say I know nothing of ecumenism shows you to be judgmental and ignorant of who you are speaking with. I used to yearn for the union of the two churches and even went to ecumenical meetings and took classes on ecumenism. Don't tell me that I don't know what ecumenism is--I do, and after having to face the facts, which was very hard to do, I realized that ecumenism does not work and does not bring about church union; on the contrary, it pulls sectarians away from Christ and his Church (which is only the Orthodox Church; it has nothing to do with east vs. west).

I don't like the way sdcheung spoke to you as he is not exactly pushing you towards Orthodoxy. But at the same time don't expect us to rejoice in your acts of schism.

By receving communion in a Catholic Church, you have already re-converted back to Catholicism. I wish you the best but as I believe the Orthodox Church is the fullness of Christ's presence and peace, you won't find his peace until you once and for all commit to accept Orthodoxy--on its OWN terms, not yours.

Well, maybe you should consider Pope Saint Hormisdas as pillars of your Orthodoxy too.
Just like the first time I "left" as you say, Orthodoxy, it was not my fault.
Some orthodox prat showed me the way of the church of the greeks.
What should I do now? Beg to be left in or just step out?

Please forgive my not understanding:

What do "Prodoti and "ameroliptoi" mean?

If the first is a slur or rude word, I apologize for asking.

I recall my past statements. I apologise to all since I found out what
kind of a lovely person is sdcheung to all. I personally forgive him since
I sometimes have felt ummm fanatic Grin.

I realise it has been wrong from my side to go and recieve communion
by a catholic priest but Anastasie, keep in mind that there is no anathema
from the Orthodox Church towards the Pope or the Catholic Church (including clergy and laity).

Anastasios, what about in my case? My sister and I both attend Catholic schools. At Mass we have to take communion. Does that make us heretics and non-Orthodox? I'm not advocating taking Catholic sacraments, but I don't see how it makes you a heretic.

You have to take communion?ÂÂ  Since when?ÂÂ  You don't have to go up in you are in mortal sin according to traditional RC teaching (actually, you are required to not go up for communion if in mortal sin).

Lol, just claim you are always in mortal sin if they actually force communion on you Wink.

I know many Orthodox Catholic children that attend Roman Catholic parochial schools.ÂÂ  AND NOT ONE OF THEM WHOLE HAS TO TAKE COMMUNION!

just what is your purpose for posting here?  It seems to me after reading some of your posts its to troll?  You are right, with your present attitude and beliefs you should remain within the RCC.  Because you certainly are not Orthodox Catholic in thinking or beliefs.

Suggest you might try yhe 'Eastern Christianity' section of Catholic Answers.

I will pray the devil stops leading you two to such comments.

You are right. sdcheung, you are my brother (both in Christ and by Adam and Eve).
By commiting sins we come no closer to the Great Photius which right now feels
nothing but pride for you or me. I forgive you.

May Saint Michael the Archangel defend us in our battle against principalities and powers, against the rulers of this world of darkness, against the spirits of wickedness in the high places.

I realise it has been wrong from my side to go and recieve communion
by a catholic priest but Anastasie, keep in mind that there is no anathema
from the Orthodox Church towards the Pope or the Catholic Church (including clergy and laity).

Says who? The Orthodox Church has synodically condemned the errors of the Roman Catholic Church and the pope on multiple occasions.

This thread is absurd. Both of you need to stop.
