I was forced to have my hair cut  Undecided

They did that to my Dad, too. When he was in the military.

Do something.

Yes, I'm working on it. With a bit of luck I'll be moving out as early as September.

Zoiks! Well, good luck with that. If you don't want to go in the army, I guess you shouldn't, but I've heard they still have the free haircuts. Smiley And you should sleep at least once every week. It's useful to the pillow industry. Wink

Someone far worse than any sergeant or general ordered me to have my hair cut, so I'm used to something  Smiley

I found the early beginnings of a book I started to write some time ago.  My oldest child read it and said, "Thats pretty good" and suggested I write some more.  Now that I have some extra spare time on my hands (so far the move at work has been good to me) I may take the advice.  Who knows, maybe my next career will be as a novelist.  That would be awesome!

What is it about?

I am still developing the plot of the story and the characters, but I have a good start.  I started working on a map today which will help me with travels and places.  Right now I have introduced one main character (retired soldier who has turned to farming and raising a family) and five minor characters (which are mainly there for support of the main).  I have developed a profile for another main character, but it will be some time before I introduce him in the story.

Basically, it’s along the lines of a fantasy, good vs. evil, magic and mystery, evil rears its ugly head after hiding out and gets defeated in the end by the good folks of the story.  Like every other story written after LOR was published, lol.  I am thinking of limiting the magic portions just because I am less comfortable with that sort of thing, but I really am very early in the writing.  With my luck, it will end up playing a major role.  I will probably spend most of my time, for now, working out how I want it to go before really getting into the writing.  My mind is going in a thousand directions all at once.  I really need to focus on one or two things at a time or I will not get anything accomplished.

Some people, and especially my Dutch teacher, have been harrassing me for a while now to write a book. It's just that I don't have the time to do it.

Well, technically, you could still write a bokk with it. But what about a historical novel then?

I was thinking about that. Syria in the 6th century might be nice.

I'm kind of the same way except I get distracted by real life and never finish.  I was really deep into one book (kind of political) but took too long and gave up.  Another have had the entire storyline worked out but never finished.  I may revisit that one as well.

Did you know that you could PM yourself?

Yes. It's a handy way to save information that would lost in the multitude of threads otherwise.

What a beautiful day. It's Mid-Pentecost, birds are singing and sun is shining. It seems that spring has finally arrived.

It looks like Chicago will have to wait for mid Pentecost for that to happen, as well Sad

In New Orleans, the weather doesn't get better, it goes from somewhat cold to 109 in a few weeks.

I finally made it to Iowa at my moms. Left Colorado at 11am, got here at 3am. Good grief.

Another 12 trip coming up tonight...

Same in Memphis, Tennessee --  it's been surprisingly mild so far though..

Hey, you're in Memphis? I'm going to Rhodes this fall.

I downloaded some Grant Morrison Action Comics and Geoff Johns Aquaman to read on my phone. Good stuff. Much more fun than calculus.

I need to finish up a cross stitch design on the napkins to cover our Pascha baskets. But, I'm pumping out a bunch of knit socks instead. Because, you know, woolen socks are in HIGH demand during spring and summer in the South. I am nothing if not practical.
