Non snap-back hats look weird on anyone that isn't a hipster or 40+ years old, and that's the honest truth.

But James... Cry

Do you think that this looks weird or hipster on me?

What is a "Non snap-back hat"?  (Guess you can tell that I not a hipster, and not younger than 40, eh Grin?)

I am under-40 and have been accused of hipsterism by some and have the same question.

I think the following verse is the reason for wearing a kippa (”palm”) as covering when the Shekhina (glory of God) is present:

”While my glory passes by I will put you in a cleft of the rock, and I will cover you with my hand (veshakkoti kappi 'aleykha) until I have passed by.” (Ex 33:22)

I hope Nelson's skills as an admiral were more impressive than his hat. Now when it comes to hats no-one can beat the Queen.

I wish I had her hats. She's quitting anyway so perhaps if I ask nicely...

I don't even know what you are talking about in regards to Nelson's hat not being the cats pajammies.  That hat was personally knighted by the King of England for it's part in Nelson's victories and after his death the hat was sainted by the Anglican Church as well as becoming a sacred relic.  It is in fact, the first piece of headwear to ever be both simultaneously a saint and a relic.  It was even recognized by the Orthodox and Catholic Churches, though not as a saint.  (It is called "The Blessed" in much the same manner as Augustine of Hippo.)

As for his skill as an admiral, I refer you to Trafalgar and the Nile.

Maybe.

I just found this:
Quote
Wearing a kippah is not a religious commandment. Rather it is a Jewish custom that over time has come to be associated with Jewish identity and showing respect for God. In Orthodox and Conservative circles covering one’s head is seen as a sign of yirat Shamayim, which means "reverence for God" in Hebrew. This concept comes from the Talmud, where wearing a head covering is associated with showing respect for God and for men of higher social status. Some scholars also cite the Middle Age custom of covering one's head in the presence of royalty. Since God is the "King of Kings" it made sense to also cover one's head during prayer or religious services, when one hopes to approach the Divine through worship.

According to author Alfred Koltach, the earliest reference to a Jewish head covering comes from Exodus 28:4, where it is called mitzneft and refers to a part of the High Priest's wardrobe. Another biblical reference is II Samuel 15:30, where covering the head and face is a sign of mourning.

Snapbacks are waaaay too mainstream to be hipster.

Hipster is trying hard to look like you didn't try hard.

A lot of them are attracted to Orthodoxy so they can dress like Russian peasants.

I had to read that a couple times since I usually don't see the word "have" contracted unless it is being used as an auxiliary verb. Is that not the case in Europe?

I have a cord-type phone at my desk. Yes, we still use those. I think the cord is trying to kill me.

Protip: never let a girl know you've chocolate.

I had to read that a couple times since I usually don't see the word "have" contracted unless it is being used as an auxiliary verb. Is that not the case in Europe?

I corrected it  Smiley

Anyway, all my chocolate is gone.

I'd usually say "you've got chocolate" or "you have chocolate".

But what you wrote is understandable all the same.  Probably better than if I wrote Dutch.

Usually I type something quickly, post it, reread it and then edit it for any mistakes. But someone called me and then sheenj corrected me before I could come back to correct it myself.

It's always a miracle how those things happen. If you intentionally want to make a knot like that you'll find out it's impossible.

Ugh.  Your phone looks newer than the one I have at work.  Then again, the main computer system is from 1982...

Every couple of months I have to disconnect the cord from the headset and straighten it out.

I was born with the umbilical cord around my neck, I'd say that's pretty hipster.

Dude, so was I. And I was breech as well. I always say I knew at that age my best months were already behind me, hence my attempt at suicide.

I've considered suing the physician who delivered me for all the psychological damage I've incurred do to his "intervention".

And really this could expand into a slew of suits once others sue him for the damage I've caused them.

I normally go for cargos, but I had rugby practice. I'm gonna change into pants once I get out of class.

Kill it and grill it. It's now legal to eat roadkill in Montana.

I wish it were that simple. I have tried, but the cord has been that way for so long, it is always in a snap-ready state. It causes the handle to fly out of my hand sometimes. This really stinks if I'm talking to anyone at the time. I've asked for a new phone, but they haven't approved it yet. Smiley
