I have 29 tabs open right now.  I think my laptop needs a time out...   :P
And maybe so do you!
When I find my off switch, it will be a blessed day.
and that's why I pick my nose
Picking your nose is your off switch??  ;D  I'm not testing that theory.  I'll have to settle for made-for-TV movies once in a blue moon.
I'm not sure, but the off switch must be somewhere in there...

If you take a metal rod and jam it in just right, you may find it.
Happy shall he be, that shall take and dash thy little ones against the rock. Alleluia.

Nice try, Mr. Lobotomist.

You must have a very powerful laptop.   :) Even with my new desktop system, I try to keep fewer than 10 tabs open.

Since I mentioned on goodreads that I was reading the DBH Universalism book, two users have "liked" that status update, and both are Russian bots advertising sex sites. I have faith that intelligent readers will draw the proper conclusions about this.

Russian bots are so developed that they are interested in religion?
Or does universalism lead to pornography?

Lots of people in Internetodoxy suddenly becoming Old Calendarists... Was just banned (but then readded) from a Facebook group I modded for defending that the Russian Orthodox Church didn't die off in the 1920's.

Interesting guy. I've  been reading off-and-on his compilation of John Wesley's theology.

I read all sorts of foreign, and this is what I notice: if the author for some reason it is necessary to divide people by gender, he says in this order: women, men... God help you to hold out in this crazy world.

Portuguese has gender distinctions in almost all nouns referring to people (like Russian, I guess), but the male plural can denote a mixed group, so one can see the political orientation of the speaker merely by seeing which order he uses.

For instance, when adressing a group of friends including both men and women, most would say "amigos", some (progressive) would say "amigos e amigas" and some more extremely liberal would say "amigas e amigos".

Some liberal white people are trying to introduce "Latinx" for inclusiveness.  It's beyond stupid.

Finnish doesn't generally have this kind of distinction. Even our third-person pronoun is gender-neutral. We do have suffixes (-tar or -tär) for professions implicating gender but they have mostly fallen out of use decades ago. This is one of the reasons why I have hard learning foreign languages. Having gender distinction for nouns doesn't make any sense to me.

Gender distinction isn't really common across world language families, but since the majority of the world speaks an Indo-European, Semitic or Dravidian language, or Japanese, it makes languages like Chinese, Finnish and Turkish seem like outliers, when it's actually quite the opposite.

Japanese gender distinctions are very odd, though, they're minor and patterned much differently from Indo-European languages. While in Dravidian languages it's quite the opposite: gender is just the simplest thing about classifying nouns.

'Ladies and gentlemen

This is your Captain speaking.  We are now uhhh crusing at uggh 35,000 feet, the flight should be anh, reasonably smooth over the ... ahhh... North Atlantic, with some uhh brief turbulence as we pass over uhh Greenland.   We hope to have you on the ground at, uhh, Helsiniki, a few minutes ahead of schedule.  On behalf of our entire crew I would like to thank you for flying TWA*, and we hope you enjoy your stay in, ahhh, Helsinki, or ahh whatever your final destination may be.”

*Gone but not forgotten.   :'(   Although I am not sure if they ever flew JFK-HEL; that sounds like the sort of sector Pan Am or AA would have been more likely to cover, and which was also really dominated by Finnair.  Whose gorgeous MD-11s were the last in passenger service, also gone but not forgotten.  Beautiful airplane.  Alpo2 may well know what I am talking about; he may have flown them.  The triple seven, A330 and expanded ETOPS killed them off sadly.

Last couple months I've been watching a channel on Twitch where a lady from St. Petersburg uses sand, and sometimes other materials, to make art. She has a camera above her head (mounted on the ceiling I think), pointed down at a table, with a specially-built "light box" on the table. Because of the light the material takes on a different look to the viewer than it would if done on another surface or while the light was off. Tonight she used salt instead of sand. Most of the art is done simply using the hands to drop and move the material around. Here's one she just finished:

And here's what it looks like without the light-box on, when it's plainly just salt on a table:

If you like this kind of art, you may enjoy watching The Bonnie Potter make pottery imprinted with custom lace doilies. The peeling off is particularly satisfying. ;)
That's cool, too!  I like watching her glaze, actually.  :D
Is any of the above Orthodox?  I have no idea, so there’s that.

Pray for me, a sinner.

Some liberal white people are trying to introduce "Latinx" for inclusiveness.  It's beyond stupid.
our languages are so sexist, transphobic and underdeveloped, amigo

Thanks, amigx.

Look at this enlightened individual in Chile:

Happy shall he be, that shall take and dash thy little ones against the rock. Alleluia.

Once Christ has filled the Cross, it can never be empty again.

Okay, how would that be pronounced?
“Steel isn't strong, boy, flesh is stronger! That is strength, boy! That is power! What is steel compared to the hand that wields it?  Contemplate this on the tree of woe.” - Elder Thulsa Doom of the Mountain of Power

Mencius said, “Instruction makes use of many techniques. When I do not deign to instruct someone, that too is a form of instruction.”

How much traction does this sort of thing actually have with people who speak Spanish as a first language?
