Maybe they're so drunk they mistook the flags.

That doesn't explain the speed sign on the left, or the traffic moving on the left side of the road ....  :P

As for the "variable speed" sign, that's not verbage you'd see in the States.

The other thing is our speed limit signs look like this:

Is Finland where you can find all manner of Nordic folk who are really into Confederate memorabilia?

I just received a newsletter mail titled "May the Heterodox forgive me". I got interested thinking it was some theological text, so I realised it was from a broker-dealer and LOL'd.

It's not an entirely unreasonable question- I was surprised when my Australian cousin told me that there are Outback Steakhouses in Australia, though, he assured me, "no one goes there, they're crap."

Also pretty largely true in the case of most American countries. I'm not sure why the U.S. hasn't had a tyrant yet. It's culturally tailor-made for it.

It is the above horror of the "unbridled multitude" that has driven most of the authoritarian governments in Latin America. Seems like a self-fulfilling prophecy.

A story from today with (new elected) archbishop of Wrocław and Szczecin George, who is also the Orthodox military chaplain....

Together with one girl we're unique students of the 1st year of the Orthodox theology at the Christian Theological Academy in Warsaw; we had lessons of the apologetics with abp Jeremiah who died this year on Pasha. Abp George (actually, bp George then) has been chosen to continue the lectures from this subject. So, we had agreeded to have an appointment today to discuss the matters regarding the lessons; we've never had meetins with him before. Well, I had a few short talks.
The problem is that he was waiting for us in the Orthodox military chapel, while we were waiting for him at the Christian Theological Academy. Moreorver he is quite strict man, busy and does not like people that arrive late. It turned out that there's a misunderstanding after 15 minutes; fortunately, via a girl working at the military chapel, we managed to contact the hierarch and after 50 mintues (both places are in different parts of the city) we arrive and met them; the travel wasn't without troubles too, since it started raining, and none of us had umbrella nor jacket.

Was bacon always a "thing"?  I seem to remember in the 80's and 90's it was just one breakfast meat among others.

American styled breakfast meats better than bacon:  English Bacon, Canadian Bacon, Ham off the bone, most breakfast sausages, Chicken (with waffles), salmon, crab (or lobster if you're lucky), breakfast steak...I think all those are things I would normally pick over American bacon.  I like bacon just fine, I just don't know where all this fuss came from.

Trolling is getting pretty lame on here recently. Over the years I've often responded seriously to people I assumed were trolls (or at least trolling), not because I care about the troll himself, but because other people might be wondering about the same questions/points, or because I'm a nerd who enjoys researching stuff, or just because I'm a self-absorbed know-it-all. But seriously, it's hard to play along when the baiter isn't even making an effort. I guess if I try hard enough I can imagine the attraction of seeing how obvious and lame you can make your trolling and still get lots of serious responses, but this has been done many times over the years here... doesn't that shtick get boring? Takes all kinds I guess..

Of all the absurd, pernicious trends in your generation, bacon is the one that stands out to you?

Is this post a subtle troll?

Was bacon always a "thing"?  I seem to remember in the 80's and 90's it was just one breakfast meat among others.

American styled breakfast meats better than bacon:  English Bacon, Canadian Bacon, Ham off the bone, most breakfast sausages, Chicken (with waffles), salmon, crab (or lobster if you're lucky), breakfast steak...I think all those are things I would normally pick over American bacon.  I like bacon just fine, I just don't know where all this fuss came from.

Of all the absurd, pernicious trends in your generation, bacon is the one that stands out to you?

smoking bans, suicide bombings, and prestige dramas are kind of annoying fads as well.

Vain existence can never exist, for "unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain." (Psalm 127)

If the faith is unchanged and rock solid, then the gates of Hades never prevailed in the end.

First thing to do when arriving to office: drying beard. The manliest way to start one's work day.
I believe the correct answer is taking a dump.

Leave her. No godly woman would told man to shave.
