All I need to do is BS this paper. Like two more paragraphs and I'm done for the semester with this class. My care-o-meter is empty and I'm having a really hard time scraping the barrel. Argh.  Undecided

I remember that feeling.  It's the worst.  Solidarity!

What's the paper on?

It was on the future of international relations. I seriously phoned it in. Thankfully the professor is pretty lax and as long as you participate you get a good grade.

No.  I suppose I could say "English was not my first language" in a weak attempt to not look like a moron, but even if that's true in a historical sense, that's the only sense in which it's true.  IOW, I feel like a moron.

Urban Dictionary has good definition. To make you feel less like a moron, I will tell you an embarrassing tidbit. I learned a couple of years ago (as a grown up in my 20's, mind) that tuna are huge fish. I thought they were like sardine size. Those little cans threw me off I guess. Aaaaand unfortunately I have about 20 more stories along those lines, each more embarrassing than the last.

That is a thread begging to be created.  Smiley

To confirm my moronicity, while I didn't think tuna were as small as you thought they were, they were definitely smaller in my imagination than they are in real life, until I saw them on TV.  And that was after the completion of a Master's.  It must be a NY thing.

Must be! That would be a funny thread. I have a couple of really blonde moments (no offense to the yellow hairs) but I'm not sure if I'm comfortable with the forum knowing how dumb I can truly be more than they already do. Tongue

How can I obtain 10 million and blow it in maybe a year or two?
I will assist you.   We will enter into a contract.   The legal tender in the contract will be Swabovian Leptar.  I will agree to pay you 2 million Leptar for each positive thing you say about me in this thread.   So you really need to say only five nice things about me and you're in.  Of course since there is absolutely nothing positive that can be said about me, you will have to mortgage your own conscience, but such things are done all the time in the name of business.  It's a decision that only you can make.

After you've made you're fortune, I will start a virtual casino.   Actually, it will be a virtual2 casino, since it will not only not exist in the real world, it won't even exist in the virtual world.  You may pick the games, and you may even determine the odds.  I will tell you the results of each game.

And of course since you are ultimately talking about blowing money, I will include in the offer three special options:
- virtual2 women.  (Or men, or other; I make no value judgments here.)   These (of course) will virtually2 exist only as long as your virtual2 money supply lasts.
- virtual2 televangelism.  This (if elected) will outlast not only your virtual2 money, but also your actual great-great grandchildren; they will be receiving the benefits junk mail from your decision for many years.
- virtual2 drugs.  Downside is that they offer no high whatsoever.  Upside is that they reduce your account to zero in case you ever grow tired of the exercise.

Holler if interested!

1) Find a shipment of $20 shoes made by Walmart
2) Steal the shoes
3) Sell the shoes on Ebay as $200 "custom made designer kicks" to people with too much money and not enough sense
4) Make 10 million dollars and gather data
5) Having gained insight into the spending habits of the type of people who bought your product, you should emulate them until the money runs out
6) Return to tell us of your trials and triumphs

One of the knobs on the kitchen faucet — the hot water — just broke. Since whoever installed the pipes in my house didn't include shut-off valves under the kitchen sink, I've had to prop a cinderblock against the offending knob to stop the drip (gush) until morning.

I guess I'll make a trip to the hardware store as soon as it opens tomorrow and replace the faucet before work. It's been kind of leaky around the base for a while anyway (probably why it broke, now that I think about it), so even though this will no doubt bite into our meager Christmas funds or further enslave us to Discover Bank, at least there'll be one less home repair to do before we dump this jerry-rigged mistake at a $5K-$10K loss.

I'm finally getting down to clearing out the stepdaughter's side of the kids' room. She moved out some time ago leaving some epic clutter behind, and I've been avoiding the inevitable until now. I realised just how epic the clutter was when I had to stop after 40 minutes because I was already on the third bin bag and running out of room to put them. This is going to take the rest of the week... If I didn't keep finding wonderful things forgotten among the junk, I'd be tempted to hire a skip and just toss stuff out the window wholesale.

I know how you feel. Just a few days ago I had to replace the suddenly broken front door knob. Also, my furnace - though it still works the way it was designed to do - is an antique and really should be replaced with something more efficient. I suppose when warmer weather comes and furnace installations are less urgent, we'll have to look into it.

His All Holiness read A Byzantine Archon in Exile Writing Verses. An innocent little poem about poor old Michael VII who brags about his knowledge of the canons and the Church Fathers. I'll be reading and exegeting, among other poems, In a Town of Osroëne and Above all Cynegirus. That's a bit different from what HAH did  Tongue

I think beheadings are the worst form of killing someone. We should really really hurt people who do it IMO.
I think it was either the first Aladdin movie or second one where he almost gets beheaded that festered a severe case of phobia of beheadings. Disney warped me.

Bah, that is nothing.  I've been beheaded at least three times that I remember.  Burnings at the stake are the WORST. You can't get that smell out of your nose for WEEKS.

Regarding beheadings. For me it was the Nick Berg beheading video.  Undecided

Bad news, everyone. The future has been postponed. The present is taking longer than anticipated.

Worse news: it always has.

Forever now takes even longer. Who to blame for all of this?

Would you be willing to take credit?  Otherwise, we'll have to open it up for nominations.

We can blame it on the 20th century physicists for changing how we understand reality.

So, you claim to understand reality?  Wink

Yes, I claim to understand reality. It may not be a realistic claim, but I insist on exercising my right to make it!

I agreed to give a lecture about some poems of Cavafy, but now all of my fellow students will probably think I'm gay.

Of course, it has nothing to do with that time you spent time with a girl, ate the pie she made for you, but skipped out before you could have dessert.  Tongue
