In Thy kingdom remember us, O Lord, when Thou comest in Thy kingdom.

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.

Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.

Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are you when men revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for your reward is great in heaven.

Remember us, O Lord, when Thou comest in Thy kingdom.

Remember us, O Master, when Thou comest in Thy kingdom.

Remember us, O Holy One, when Thou comest in Thy kingdom.

Okay, well, I can make some assumptions about gender.

For instance, one of my friends told me that I was the only woman alive who did not get all weak-kneed at the sight of Curtis Stone. Therefore, you, with your raging hatred of Curtis Stone, must be a man.

Don't worry, my guesses are quote logical.  Cool

There are quite a few female members. However, they seem to know better than to waste time posting polemics. Smiley

Ozgeorge has a good point about polemics...even in my every day life, the men tend to really go at it. Even though my female friends and I disagree on some points (sometimes heatedly), we just say, "Oh honey, we'll just have to agree to disagree," end the conversation amicably, walk away, and pray for the other one's soul with an undying fervor.

Keep up with the threads, you mean sex. And mix that with the adage about when one assumes, then we might have be able to have a "civil union" in Maine.

^ I actually remember that thread! I use them interchangeably, partly to make feminists mad and partly because I keep forgetting which one is used for which. You're right, you can be one sex and identify as another gender.

Asteriktos, how are you playing Dragon Quest AND Surfing Oc.net at the same time? TALENT!

For YEARS, I have been looking for this computer game that I played in my math class about 13 years ago. I JUST found it for $0.75 and one-clicked it on Amazon.com. (It's called "Math in the Real World," and it deals with a rock band on tour -- AWESOME math computer game for its time.)

I am such a loser. I cannot believe that I didn't even hesitate to buy the game! But I CANNOT wait to get it in the mail and relive the memories. I am sure that my childhood friends and relatives will be asking for copies once they find out that I have it...

Thought I'd share one of my favorite quotes from one of my favorite books, Salvation On Sand Mountain by Dennis Covington (and this is not fiction):

"She'd swore she'd never handle rattlesnakes in July again. She'd been bit the previous two Julys. 'I decided I'd just handle fire and drink strychnine that night,' she said. Good idea, I thought. It always pays to be on the safe side."

This castle is the place where the Orthodox monk Otrepev beseeched the Wiśniowiecki clan to prepare an attack on Moscow.(c.1600) By this castle is the church in which Peter Mohyla's sister, Raina (Regina) Mohylanka prayed. Raina Mohylanka lived there at the time of the defeat of Moscow. The Romanian and Moldavan Orthodox churches have postulated her canonisation.  Grin Grin Grin Praise be to Romania!!!

Btw: I'm shocked that this thread fell to the second page in Other Topics.  Shameful!

Adam was walking around the Garden of Eden feeling very lonely, so God asked Adam, "What is wrong with you?" Adam said he didn't have anyone to talk to. God said he was going to give him a companion and she would be called "woman."

God said, "This person will cook for you and wash your clothes, she will always agree with every decision you make. She will bear your children and never ask you to get up in the middle of the night to take care of them. She will not nag you, and will always be the first to admit she was wrong when you've had a disagreement. She will never have a headache, and will freely give love and compassion whenever needed."

Adam asked God, "What will this woman cost?"

God said, "An arm and a leg."

Adam said, "What can I get for just a rib?"

On the calendar page for my parish's website, they squished together some of the type for today's date, so that instead of reading, "Liturgy," followed by "Coffee Hour & Dance," (the latter I think referred to the children's dance practice group), it read: "Dance Liturgy."  Shocked  Cheesy If you took a second look at it, you could figure out what it really meant. I almost fell off my chair the first time I read it, though.  Wink

In the newspaper yesterday, the chess puzzle had a hint beneath it. "Try to force checkmate."

...but you could use that hint any day, because that's the whole point of playing chess!!

I thought I would restart this thread, just because it's fun to see what people randomly post.

I was getting a new phone last night (old, free on is on its last legs), and strangely enough, the Droid was the cheapest one in the store that time, even with the data package stuff. Go figure. I  downloaded all of the Orthodox apps and I'm totally psyched about it. I can't wait to show my priest, although the likelihood is very high that he's seen them all already.

[/dork]

Any good apps recommendations? Free for now because we're moving soon and I'm trying to make sure that I don't fritter away the little money I have left after a paycheck!

So far I have PrayDaily, the Greek Calendar, the Pilgrim App, and a Russian Bible...I think those were the free ones that I noticed. There are quite a few Coptic Apps, too, as I remember them from the list. I love that I get to have the prayers and the text of the DL on my phone! [/dork]

Ah, back in the days we would have our best actor take a dive to get the ref's attention while another teammate would knock unconscious another player with a folding metal chair.

Seriously, I played with serious dude from Nigeria and he could take a dive like no one else. It was hilarious. It is part of the game and strategy. If you ain't exploiting every advantage, you ain't playing.

Sometimes though, we would be killing the other team and he would still pull those antics. I would ask him why. He said, he liked to get his "face time" and keep himself in top form.
