It's always nice to have a no-expectations, casual discussion area.  Glad this thread can fulfill those needs.

Im glad lentels and bread are not excluded in fasting, or I'd be in aheap of trouble...but maybe a little less gassy.

I found this on a web site for a GOA church in Seattle, Annunciation.  I thought it was very helpful:

beverages such as whiskey, beer, etc.)
THE HOLY CANONS SPECIFY THE FOLLOWING FOR FASTING DURING THIS MONTH:

Silly me, I should have added Eastern Shore to the original question.  Forgive me for my error.

In Central and Western MD - every county except the ones which front the Chesapeake Bay or the tidal Potomac/Patuxent are landlocked.  Example, Howard County is landlocked but not Prince George's County.  A landlocked county can have a river border with another county.

Allegany in NY?  Allegany in MD?  Or have you misspelled the county in which Pittsburgh lies?

My dearest Cleveland, glorious manager and member of oc.net.

I meant Allegany County, MD.  Not the Allegheny County, PA nor the Allegany County, NY.

Someone once told me that Allegheny was the French way of spelling it and allegany was the british.  Remember the French and Indian War and Ft. Pitt, Brits versus the French...  in allegheny county and Pennsylvania proper the French spelling remains the norm.

I thought so... but hey, giving people a hard time can be so fun!

Someone once told me that Allegheny was the French way of spelling it and allegany was the british.  Remember the French and Indian War and Ft. Pitt, Brits versus the French...  in allegheny county and Pennsylvania proper the French spelling remains the norm.

That's because that part of PA was French territory before it was British territory.  And it was Ft. Duquesne before it was Ft. Pitt; that would have been a more apropos name for the 'Burgh, and less likely to be made fun of ("U of Pit" - c'mon!).

Another interesting thing are the words Juniata and Oneida.  The Oneida are Native Americans that now live in NY. Juniata, like the Juniata River in PA is the word Oneida in the language of a neighboring First nations people in NY.  I can't remember which one, but it was one of the 5 tribes of the confederacy.

Why did you have to post something substantive on this thread?!  Anathema!

I protest to this ALLEGATION!   It is not substantive necessarily PLUS, it is pretty darn random.  to actually post all of the fasting rules?  PLUS it was in continuation of the dialogue previously held.

If you really want to push me, i'll call upon the council (of liquers, which we used to have).

Clearly, fasting rules as laid out are issues of Faith, not "Random Postings" of the "Other Topics" section of the site.

I hope serb1389 has a designated driver if he's having one of those days.

That would be a hoot: to have a "designated driver" to help him walk around campus back to his apartment (which is also on campus).  That would be really bad.

No, I'm just creative like that.  I wonder if anyone has actually been arrested for that yet?

Those things would be totally ineffective on campus - the hill would wear those motors out faster than you can say gimmicky product.

God created feet to walk.

So walk, or lose your feet!
