I got to wondering today.  Why will a man call his father his "old man", yet call his wife his "old lady"?

But his wife calls him her "old man"?

Wow! 100 pages!

That is an amazing milestone, especially when considering the previous 99 pages had 45 posts a page (or thereabouts....)

Moreover, we used to have 15 posts per page...300 pages!

How about a Stewie (from Family Guy) Party when the 10,000 post milestone is crossed?

Oy.  Not enough posting volume to get that done anytime soon.... By then, Stewie will be retired with 10 grandchildren (all attempting to destroy each other and dominate the world).

He's still north of the Mason-Dixon Line. Down South, it's rare to get anything below freezing. Never more than a couple inches of snow--the years we have it at all.

Ah yes, the famous "well, well...you can just leave" rebuttal. Very cogent.

Neil Young and David Bowie were the only musicians to do disco right.

"We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
How soft your fields so green, can whisper tales of gore,
Of how we calmed the tides of war. We are your overlords.

On we sweep with threshing oar, Our only goal will be the western shore.

So now you'd better stop and rebuild all your ruins,
For peace and trust can win the day despite of all your losing."

Everybody sing!

Today's Tom Sawyer, he gets high on you,
And the space he invades, he gets by on you.
No, his mind is not for rent
To any god or government.
Always hopeful, yet discontent,
He knows changes aren't permanent,
But change is.

There must be some kind of way out of here
Said the joker to the thief
There's too much confusion
I can't get no relief
Business men they drink my wine
Plowmen dig my earth
None will level on the wine
Nobody of it is worth

No reason to get exited
The thief he kindly spoke
There are many here among us
Who feel that life is but a joke
But you and I we've been through that
And this is not our fate
So let us talk falsely now
The hour's getting late

All along the watchtower
The princess kept the view
While all the women came
And went bare feet servants too
Outside in the cold distance
A wild cat did growl
Two riders were aproaching
And the wind began to howl...

Exhaling...

An old timer is a man who's had a lot of interesting experiences -- some of them true.

Grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway, the good fortune to run into the ones I do, and the eyesight to tell the difference.

Twenty-seven kilometers of tunnel under ground
Designed with mind to send protons around
A circle that crosses through Switzerland and France
Sixty nations contribute to scientific advance
Two beams of protons swing round, through the ring they ride
‘Til in the hearts of the detectors, they’re made to collide
And all that energy packed in such a tiny bit of room
Becomes mass, particles created from the vacuum
And then…

LHCb sees where the antimatter’s gone
ALICE looks at collisions of lead ions
CMS and ATLAS are two of a kind
They’re looking for whatever new particles they can find.
The LHC accelerates the protons and the lead
And the things that it discovers will rock you in the head.
As a result of a thousand million years of evolution, the universe is becoming conscious of itself, able to understand something of its past history and its possible future.

When I was a little boy
Living in the last century
I thought about living in the future
Then it occurred to me
I turned around, the future was now
The future was all around me
Nothing like I had imagined
It was totally confounding
Hey-ohhh

21st century life
I got swept away
I got 21,000 things that I got to do today
21st century life
Well what can I say?
The new world's got me feeling so dirty
Think I need to get down and pray

Well now I turned on the TV just in time
enough to hear what the Pope said, Pope said
And just a few tiny words later
Somebody wants the man dead, oh
Well what about famine and disease
Well they said it’s too bad (oops)
Because I’m never alone
It’s not just a phone
It’s a stereo
Hey-ohhh

21st century life
I got swept away
I got 21,000 things that I got to do today
21st century life
What can I say?
The new world's got me feeling so dirty
Think I need to get down and pray

The sun is a mass of incandescent gas
A gigantic nuclear furnace
Where hydrogen is melted into helium
At a temperature of millions of degrees

The sun is hot
The sun is not
A place where we could live
But there would not be life on Earth
Without the light it gives
