Well it's not just that. Where I live, there is no mass transit because it's just too much room to cover, and we live below sea level. And people have to get to work. Yes you could say it's a matter of urban sprawl, and that it really doesen't make a hill of beans in the grand scheme. But this is our hill. And these are our beans!

The Church I am currently attending on a regular basis is about an even 2 miles - not that far to walk. It is in a very bad neighborhood (a federal officer was shot there a few months back - an other crimes are common and expected), though.
Just buy a Model 1911 and take a stroll, it may be more fun than you think.
