Well, Mr. Y and I shall have to try this! Can't be any worse than mom's fried squirrel. The best part of the squirrel is the brain... (I think it was in this thread that I reminisced on how, when I was a firefighter and had to be on duty on a Sunday, the station captain's wife would drop off a big bag o' squirrel heads for supper for everyone the next day. This was in Kentucky, and a traditional Sunday meal is squirrel heads...) Sometimes Cap would set up a squeamish, city slicker college student who'd be staying with us, by asking the student to "go out yonder an' see what's in that bag by the door" ....that was hilarious!

Wow. I've got an acquaintance who swears by "Beer Butt Chicken", a roasting recipe he learned in southern 'Bama.

Hello, Wow.
I've got an acquaintance who swears by "Beer Butt Chicken", a roasting recipe he learned in southern 'Bama.
I make that, too. Except, here it is call "Beer Can Chicken". I even have a special tool that holds the beer can upright inside the bird's cavity and stands the bird upright on the grill. I picked it up at home depot earlier this year. The chicken comes out so moist and tender.

Interesting. I'd love to try the recipe some day (maybe you should add it to the "feasting recipes" thread in the Family Forum).

9860 squirrels in the woods, 9860 squirrels. Run one over in your pickup truck and take it home so that you can cook it up for dinner and then you eat it, 9859 squirrels in the woods,

Hello,
Yup, I'm from Boardman. What Church do your grandparents attend (if any)?
They switch between St. John the Forerunner Greek Orthodox Church in Boardman on Glenwood, and Archangel Michael in Cambell. But they live close to the intersection of Shields and Glenwood.

A warm shoutout to my parish! I was to meet a friend for dinner tonight at a Thai restaurant. While I was waiting outside, he texted me saying that he was going to be about 20 minutes late. My church happens to be across the street from the Thai place, so I thought I would drop in there for some quiet prayer before the Blessed Sacrament.
Well, lo and behold, I stumbled upon Compline and Benediction in progress---and chanted in Latin! I had forgotten that this goes on at 8:45pm every night at St. Clement's. They also do the Rosary and Vespers at 5pm every day, among much else.
St. Clement's is no SSPX parish or some traditionalist ghetto. It's an ordinary church in the middle of the city made up mostly of twenty- and thirty-somethings and college students. It is a joy to be simply and gloriously Catholic there!
So many thanks to God and to St. Clement's!

No it's not... You're a bears fan, and it's the only way to roll in public (and you know it).
