Hello,

You know, I was thinking that I would pipe the output of my PI calculating program into a text file. But, in order to hold that much data, the file would be 1 terabyte!!!!!  Shocked

I wonder how much RAM I would need? This could be a great project - I would have to learn serious memory management and file compression techniques.

Doctoral Thesis, here I come!  Grin

We're really doing well on the post count. I just checked and we need less then 11,000 posts before New Years to break the 200K mark.

Mwa-ha-ha-ha-ha!

We still need an average of 400 posts per day! But given the past week, it is definitely within our capabilities.

Don't get too frantic! Quality counts.  And I'll bet, if we looked at the post counts statistically, that some days, such as weekends might have higher then average.  We still have over 3. 5 weeks to do it.  Save your strength for the last haul!

And if you're having trouble, try this site. Bonus: you can find vocabulary from many English language authors, from Geoffrey Chaucer to Dan Brown*.

Lordynges, I koude han toold yow, quod this Frere,
Hadde I had leyser for this Somonour heere,

And of oure othere doctours many oon,
Swiche peynes that youre hertes myghte agryse,
Al be it so no tonge may it devyse,
Thogh that I myghte a thousand wynter telle
The peynes of thilke cursed hous of helle.
But for to kepe us fro that cursed place,
Waketh, and preyeth Jhesu for his grace
So kepe us from the temptour Sathanas.
Herketh this word! Beth war, as in this cas:
"The leoun sit in his awayt alway
To sle the innocent, if that he may."
Disposeth ay youre hertes to withstonde
The feend, that yow wolde make thral and bonde.
He may nat tempte yow over youre myght,
For Crist wol be youre champion and knyght.
And prayeth that thise somonours hem repente
Of hir mysdedes, er that the feend hem hente!

Questa mattina è foriera di una pace che rattrista;
il sole pel dolore non mostrerà la sua faccia.
Andiamo via di qui, a ragionare ancora di questi dolorosi avvenimenti;
a qualcuno sarà perdonato ed altri sarà punito;
poiché non ci fu mai storia più pietosa
di questa di Giulietta e del suo Romeo.

At least that's what the Prince would have really said! Wink

Blessid ben thei that suffren persecusioun for riytfulnesse, for the kingdam of heuenes is herne.

It's a little older than Chaucer, Old English instead of Middle English, but it looks so much cooler.  laugh
