Here's a Russian "Creed of Faith" in the shape of a Swastika.

But the Swastika (the right one, not the reversed as Hitler did) is used in Orthodoxy; in my parish church at windows there are some.
Wait, how so? What does it symbolise?

Also, both clockwise and counterclockwise swastikas are ancient. I recall some dharmic philosophy even used both, with opposite meanings, but I can't back this up with sources now.

Christians are not Buddhists. They shouldn't use Buddhist symbols.

I would never go to Dominika's parish, for that reason.

That's silly. It is not an exclusively Buddhist symbol. It did not originate with Buddhism and it did not end there. There are many old instances of its usage, along with other pre-Christian symbols, in Christianity.

We shouldn't let other people tell us what to do with our symbols. If Poles are not offended by it, neither should almost any other country.

It's very nice. I mostly use the Holy Dormition Monastery psalter, which has the same basic layout but without archaism; however, the HDM has no pocket version so the Psalter for Prayer is nice on the go.

Rather reluctantly actually and only after the peace treaty with the USSR:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lapland_War

The symbol in the flag predates Nazis though and has nothing to do with alliance with Nazi Germany. As for the air force, it came into use after a Swedish Count Eric von Rosen gave Finnish Air Force their first plane on 1918. The swastika happened to be painted on the plane and thus it became the symbol for the air force. Otherwise AFAIK the use goes back for centuries.

Everyone knows what it's come to mean today.

Christians are not Buddhists. They shouldn't use Buddhist symbols.

I would never go to Dominika's parish, for that reason.

But it's not just a Buddhist symbol. It has historical Christian uses (most of them being Christian theological "retrofits" onto pre-Christian pagan swastika motifs like the multi-branched Polish Ręce Swaroga or "Hands of Svarog"), too.

The swastika was a beautiful thing until Hitler stole it. Some would argue that not continuing to use it (or only letting Neo-Nazis do so) lets the Nazis "win" another victory. Others, like the Navajo who had an independent swastika tradition of their own, see it as irreparably ruined. It's a highly personal decision that I don't think can be one-size-fits-all'ed either for communities or for individuals.

So, I really don't think it's fair of you to say you'd never go to Dominika's parish for that reason (it's a beautiful parish, btw, I've wanted to go to Poland for a while now and that's a definite additional reason to go).

Sorry if this post was kind of way too Alpha-ish lol.

You have the right to make your own decisions, other people have the right to discuss them and point out where they aren't necessarily nice or fair of you (are you trying to call Dominika a Nazi or just her parish?) It's a free internet (at least for now).

I'm pretty broke too, fwiw.

With or without swastikas, that sticharion is exquisitely made.  It'd probably cost a lot to have that quality nowadays.

Nothing is more dull than anticlerical 19th century writings. It's just pontification that's always the same.
“God,”
The words rumbled:
“There is much suffering,
But the church is alive. "

“How long, Archpriest, are we to suffer thus?” I answered: “Until our very death, Markovna!” And she replied, with a sigh: “So be it, Petrovich, let us plod on.” - Life of Avvakum by Himself

Nastasya, Nastasya, be
patient and do not cry:
Not every happiness
Comes in the clothing of fortune.

St. Ambrose, pray for us!

I especially like it when it comes from Western Protestants with all their unacknowledged deference to the then-burgeoning "office" of the celebrity tent-meeting evangelist. Somebody was lacking in self-awareness...

Wikipedia says there's four non-Americans with busts on Capitol Hill. I'm trying to figure out if that's actually true.

From searching, I'm only seeing Raoul Wallenberg, Winston Churchill, and Vaclav Havel. Who's number four?

I think it's a fitting legacy that 85 percent of references to Ted Cruz are now Zodiac Killer jokes.
Blessed Nazarius practiced the ascetic life. His clothes were tattered. He wore his shoes without removing them for six years.

Orthodox Christian rock song

I truly hope there's no such thing.

As long as it's not being used Liturgically, what's wrong with it? If there can be Orthodox novels and movies, why shouldn't there be Orthodox rock songs (issues of "good art is not explicitly one thing or another it just is, yada yada yada" notwithstanding)?

Russian bots destroy Last Jedi like Ivan Drago and we be doing nothing bouts it? Is outrage!

It seems most people who actually saw the movie enjoyed it. I know I did.

Orthodox Christian rock song

I truly hope there's no such thing.

As long as it's not being used Liturgically, what's wrong with it?

It's doomed to be either bad Orthodoxy or bad rock music.

I just need to find out how to say it in Slavonic!

Sturgeon's Law touches everything, but that's no reason to not even try. Are rock musicians who happen to be Orthodox just to be forbidden from touching on their faith in their music?

Yes, by all means you should be suspicious of anything that a record label might decide to market as "Orthodox rock," just as you should be suspicious of all marketing. But the songs/albums also need to be judged on their own merits.

And considering the Christian Rock we mostly have today the judge would be something along the lines "awkward".

Most likely true. Bur like I said, still no reason to not even try.

Surely there's room for a "Glory of Byzantium" or "Tsarist Russia" themed Finnish power metal band where you just kind of get Orthodoxy as part of the package deal?  ;)
Wishing to grant pardon for ancient debts, he who cancels the debts of all people came himself and dwelt among those who were estranged from his divine grace; and tearing apart the record of sin, he hears from everyone: Alleluia.
