Does anybody know what this actually is? (Other than, you know, stupid). I feel like there's an entertaining hoax story here.

Can't find anything about it on Google, though.

Obviously fake and goy!

Comment on a video about using VR to make kids more comfortable getting shots:

Quote
That's awesome! Poisoning of the kids is now made into an exciting experience. Too bad the VR won't follow them through the chronic diseases they will soon develop after these shots: like Asthma, Eczema, Food allergies, Encephalitis , PANDAS. .

Yes, there's really a disease called PANDAS. I was hoping it was just a non-sequitur...

Well, Aramaic with some occasional Greek (I wonder if there's been any work on just how much Greek the average Judean peasant would have spoken) and Hebrew in a formal, Synagogue-type context.

I doubt most Judeans would have cared to learn Latin, the language of the hated invaders, beyond maybe a few words.

The invaders probably spoke Greek more often than Latin. Still, the Jews for some reason didn't really use Latin very often, even most of those in the Latin-speaking empire would rather speak Greek.

That more happened in Acts 2, after the Resurrection. I have no doubt Jesus could have miraculously understood any language, but there's no evidence in tradition that Jesus ever interacted with a lot of foreigners (outside of the emissary of King Abgar who probably spoke Aramaic).

In the last year, whenever I come across a quote attributed to the Buddha, I google it, and I am yet to fail to get a hit at fakebuddhaquotes.com/

It makes me wonder if in parts of the world where the population isn't at least passingly familiar with the Bible there aren't schmaltzy memes attributing sentimental "wisdom" to Jesus. "The difference between 'like' and 'love' is the difference between picking a flower right away and watering it every day, Peter."

I think people should post inspirational memes with quotes from the Buddha detailing the horrible sufferings of narakas, hungry ghosts, etc.
“Steel isn't strong, boy, flesh is stronger! That is strength, boy! That is power! What is steel compared to the hand that wields it?  Contemplate this on the tree of woe.” - Elder Thulsa Doom of the Mountain of Power

Mencius said, “Instruction makes use of many techniques. When I do not deign to instruct someone, that too is a form of instruction.”

Come look at my lame blog

I think people should post inspirational memes with quotes from the Buddha detailing the horrible sufferings of narakas, hungry ghosts, etc.

Yeah, or maybe just start with the assumption that you aren't a bodhisattva.

Edit: On second thought, I should have attributed it to HonestZen instead of playing on the inspiration trope.

Blessed Nazarius practiced the ascetic life. His clothes were tattered. He wore his shoes without removing them for six years.

THE OPINIONS HERE MAY NOT REFLECT THE ACTUAL OR PERCEIVED ORTHODOX CHURCH

Take a breath, read Ecclesiastes 1:9.

But that would imply that Buddha WASN'T Richard Dawkins in a Kāṣāya. :P
Christ my God, set my heart on fire with love in You, that in its flame I may love You with all my heart, with all my mind, and with all my soul and with all my strength, and my neighbor as myself, so that by keeping Your commandments I may glorify You the Giver of every good and perfect gift. Amen.

What kind of money is behind that little app game, Toon Blast, that they can afford a series of commercials with Ryan Reynolds?

Old school vestments.
Happy shall he be, that shall take and dash thy little ones against the rock. Alleluia.

How old is it? If it's pre-Nazi then it was using the swastika in its older, positive connotations (which are mostly found in Hinduism and Buddhism, but I'm pretty sure showed up in Christianity occasionally too).

If it's post-Nazi, no idea. A well-intentioned but misguided attempt to reclaim the symbol?

Alright, so did a little more digging and I found out that it was commonly put on Russian Orthodox vestments and icons before WWII, as it became associated with German occupation. It was also apparently a favourite symbol of the last Russian empress, Alexandra Feodorovna, who said the symbol brought her happiness.

Here's a Russian "Creed of Faith" in the shape of a Swastika.

Here's a Russian "Creed of Faith" in the shape of a Swastika.

But the Swastika (the right one, not the reversed as Hitler did) is used in Orthodoxy; in my parish church at windows there are some.
Pray for persecuted Christians, especially in Serbian Kosovo and Raška, Egypt and Syria

It would make a neat tattoo, but for private display only.
