“God,”
The words rumbled:
“There is much suffering,
But the church is alive. "

You need to find a way to combine the two to be really #relevant!

Youtube is testing my patience with the "two ads per video" thing. Google really is determined to turn it into TV...

Sometimes I wish people could just boycott Youtube, because ever since Google came along, it's gone downhill.

Sometimes I wish people could just boycott Youtube, because ever since Google came along, it's gone downhill.

Or at least create a viable alternative to it. Most of this misbehavior is caused by their status as a de facto monopoly.

Of course, it's a spiral effect, since the cynicism about it among people like you and I is what causes YouTube alternatives like LBRY to have no real chance in the first place...

It's important to me to sit through the ads on small channels so that they (hopefully) get their pittance. Call it the postmodern version of the widow's mite lol.

The JW is the closest worship hall to my house. I talked to them once, they started with the "will suffering ever end?" deal and kind of went away when I mentioned that at the Greek Orthodox Church we pray for the Lord to put the reposed in a place with no pain, suffering, or sorrow at every memorial service for them.

Having memorial services with koliva every other week can be really helpful sometimes.

Plus, koliva  :)

Nah, from what I've read of if it already, it doesn't look worth reading unless I had the opportunity to convert some Mormons.

Maybe one of these days I'll go on a comparative religion spree just to say I did, but it's a low priority.

I tried reading parts of it once and it's really quite dull for the most part. I say this as someone who enjoys many books that others find tedious.

Believe it or not, there's a really good short story by Murray Leinster called "Exploration Team" that actually revolves around astronauts with trained bears.

I actually once knew an Evangelical who made her own "Skeptic's Annotated Book of Mormon" to use on door to door missionaries. She said at least one of them tried to steal it from her, too.

"In Russia, Winnie Poohs you!"
Christ my God, set my heart on fire with love in You, that in its flame I may love You with all my heart, with all my mind, and with all my soul and with all my strength, and my neighbor as myself, so that by keeping Your commandments I may glorify You the Giver of every good and perfect gift. Amen.

I tried reading parts of it once and it's really quite dull for the most part. I say this as someone who enjoys many books that others find tedious.

I actually once knew an Evangelical who made her own "Skeptic's Annotated Book of Mormon" to use on door to door missionaries. She said at least one of them tried to steal it from her, too.

I never have strangers in my house, but it's hard to believe that a Mormon would try stealing a book from a potential.

Wojtek's story is pretty cool.

From the way she told it, he kept trying to find any excuse to snatch it out of her hands and it sounded to me like he was thinking in terms of "confiscating it for her protection." I don't have a hard time believing that an overzealous 18 year-old "Elder" would pull a boneheaded move like that.

I see no reason she would lie about it, she wasn't a flake. But still, I suppose she could have misinterpreted something innocent, like he was just asking to see it and he would have given it right back to her.

I'd ask her, but we lost contact years ago.

That's true, a go-getter "elder" doing great things for Mr. Smith.

There are no bears on the Moon.
I blame NASA.

No, blame the Russian Space Station. Bears are clearly a Russian thing!

Where do the morning and evening prayers in the Orthodox Study Bible come from? I don't recognize them as being taken from the Jordanville or HTM prayer books.
