TBH, I don't care for mitres.
Blessed Nazarius practiced the ascetic life. His clothes were tattered. He wore his shoes without removing them for six years.

Well, that's easy. Have your kids marry the fish people.

I guess I am channeling my inner Punch, but at times I think all the accruements, finery and exaltation of men based on titles is too much. Humility is a great color on anyone.

Some Communist just stabbed the most popular candidate for our presidential elections, who is far-right. Big freaking idea to make a martyr in a populist country.

It gets weirder. Judging from his Facebook profile, the guy who stabbed him was also a fanatical Evangelical and an obsessed anti-Mason. He told the police that God ordered him to do the assassination attempt.

tfw you're in confession and the priest is talking more and more loudly because no one else is in the nave/sanctuary, but eventually it gets to the point that you're pretty sure people could hear him outside the church

Great. So a hurricane named Florence could come through my neighborhood next week and cause some damage.

Interesting Monachos thread I found on how often monastics sleep.

Just thinking about possible objections to monasticism based on its health value or lack thereof and how one might answer them.

Monasticism is very healthy. They don't eat processed stuff, most do manual labor which works as exercise, and they stand for hours at a time. That's great for you.
“God,”
The words rumbled:
“There is much suffering,
But the church is alive. "

“How long, Archpriest, are we to suffer thus?” I answered: “Until our very death, Markovna!” And she replied, with a sigh: “So be it, Petrovich, let us plod on.” - Life of Avvakum by Himself

Nastasya, Nastasya, be
patient and do not cry:
Not every happiness
Comes in the clothing of fortune.

Interesting Monachos thread I found on how often monastics sleep.

Just thinking about possible objections to monasticism based on its health value or lack thereof and how one might answer them.

Thanks.
Christ my God, set my heart on fire with love in You, that in its flame I may love You with all my heart, with all my mind, and with all my soul and with all my strength, and my neighbor as myself, so that by keeping Your commandments I may glorify You the Giver of every good and perfect gift. Amen.

Daisy Fuentes (yes that one) married Richard Marx (yes that one) in 2015. Just thought you should know.

Great. So a hurricane named Florence could come through my neighborhood next week and cause some damage.
Lord, have mercy.  Wherever it lands, I hope it is as minimal as possible, and no injury.   :-\
They have it pointed directly at Wilmington, NC at the moment. That's where the 5-day NOAA forecast ends but it seems like it could go up I-40 to my house afterwards.

Amazing story of the monk that hasn't slept for years. St. John of Shanghai also spent decades without ever laying on a bed, although he'd occasionally take naps while praying. True miracles that show how their bodies are sustained in a way from out of this world, just like those who don't eat at all for long periods of time.

I don't understand transliteration of names when the target language already has an equivalent.

For example, the standard Russian form of "Michael" is "Михаил." Why then must "Майкл" exist?

Furthermore, it's an absolute travesty that Pom Klementieff's surname is transliterated to "Клементьефф." It's of Russian origin, you dolts!
