Next you'll be telling me you strike up conversations with people on the bus.

Vade retro! That would basically nullify my citizenship.
I just need to find out how to say it in Slavonic!

Today I checked out on a RC mass in an amazing church near my workplace (my boss wanted to watch it so I just followed him) and the priest claimed on the homily that Argentina, Russia and Brazil had lost the World Cup due to abortion. It was a nice homily.

Here in America this week there was a College football coach saying (basically) that if we continued down the road of actually caring about player safety that we were going to be a bunch of pansies and our society would be destroyed. Some people really put the fanatic in fan.

Do planes use darkness as their fuel? It seems that all cheap flights leave inhumanely early.

They primarily use the souls of complaining travellers.

It doesn't seem to have worked any wonders for the Ukrainian team though. I'm thinking it's schlock.

Setting up a new phone + transferring 650GB of files from one external drive to another = some epic time-wasting. :-\

650GB? Wow you have a lot of files. And I thought 10GB was big :)

About 600GB worth of music (collected over 17 years), and the rest in ebooks. Thus, a multitude of small files that stretch out the transfer time. If it were, say, movies, they'd be through a lot faster.

My random thing is that it's nice when one failed project might mean the success of another.  In this case, it involves plywood, shelf pins, and sub-optimal storage.
Is any of the above Orthodox?  I have no clue, so there's that.

For people who might have some experience/info on this... what is the local area of Victoria/Sooke BC Canada like? (yes, serious)  To summarize what I've read: it has a polite 'small town' vibe, though moreso to tourists and sometimes there is snobbery directed towards people who move there; very sleepy and little night life; heavy reliance on the ferry for transportation could be an issue for some; nit picky with regulations/laws enforcement. Thoughts?

Any Slovaks here? What does abbreviation "Mgr." stand for? I sent a message to some tourist board in Bratislava and received answer from Mgr. X. I figured that it didn't refer for Monsignor.  :P

In Poland it's from "magister": the one that has graduated from university, written and defended his/her master thesis; btw, that's my new title for 1 week now! :D

Iconodule, a Berdyaev quote I think you'll like:

Many of you love to speak about freedom and liberation. But who of you is free, about what freedom do you speak? Does there exist for you a subject to have freedom? True liberation presupposes a moment of ascesis, of self-discipline and self-limitation. Letting loose the elemental passions tends to enslave, make one a slave. When man is situated under the grip of his own chaos, he is a slave.

The United States are so Jewish.

Fr. Schmemann is so bougie

And apparent Fr Seraphim is more leftist. Yeah, I'm reading the same facebook thread.

Guaraná Antarctica is great, but it doesn't really taste like guaraná (the berry), and neither do other brands of guaraná-based sodas. There are easily available syrups that get a bit closer, though, and one can just buy guaraná powder and mix it with water home, preferrably with sugar since it's kinda bitter.
Yeah, there's another brand of guarana soda I found in Toronto but you can tell it doesn't use much guarana.

I'll have to look into getting that powder, thanks. If I can get one of those sodastreams for carbonated water, I'll never have to pay the ridiculous price for a 12 pack of Guarana Antarctica on Amazon

Man, just look for a Brazilian market or something, any major American city has one.

You could do this at home! Just use corn starch instead of polvilho if the latter is too hard to find.
