Let me tell you all about the lestovka I just acquired.
I know a crazy Old Believer LARPer who owns one he knitted himself. I once met him at church and asked him where his belt was (Old Believers use a thick belt to separate the pure part of the body from the impure one, it seems) and he said his wife didn't let him use it publically. It seems they actually knitted one of those too.

in general they don't knit them...they weave them

so maybe if he knitted his, his wife had the good sense to tell him not to wear it... ;)
All opinions expressed by myself are quite tragically my own, and not those of any other poster or wall hangings.

No idea, his wife wouldn't let him show it to anyone and I think his priest didn't approve him using this stuff either.

Yes, he weaved it! Used the wrong word.

I did purchase this.  I do have a traditional lestovka with the "leaves" at the end, but I find this easier to use and carry in my pocket.

I got one for a friend of mine when I was on Athos and he really likes it. Saw several monks using them, including non-Russians.

I noticed I have a lot of orange books for some reason. Thinking about putting them all on the same shelf in a gradient. Might look kind of cool.

My shelves would appeal to a very specific kink. The books that I already had when I moved into the house were sorted alphabetical by author for fiction and dewey decimal (roughly) for non-fiction, but everything since then has just been placed horizontal in front of them with no eye to sorting because of space issues.

But when I pull one of the sorted volumes, I always place it back.

I bet there's money to be made off a "reading my book titles in alphabetical/Dewey order" ASMR if you don't mind some moderately filthy lucre.

Publishing an article on Linkedin instead of some peer-reviewed publication allows for some liberties such as:

  • citing Marx, Hobsbawm and The Black Book of Communsim to support the same point
  • quoting the Bible
  • using "primitives" to refer to stateless and marketless societies (I criticised this very characterisation in the article, but still used it for lack of a better term)
"May the Lord our God remember in His kingdom all Holy Catholic Apostolic Church, which heralds the Word of Truth and fearlessly offers and distributes the Holy Oblation despite human deficiencies and persecutions moved by the powers of this world, in all time and unto the ages of ages."

lol

The reason Pichu is terrible is because it's exactly the same as Pikachu except its Thunder attack damages itself (and it does less damage to the foe, I think).

A Pichu is a baby Pikachu.

Though I wish it looked like it did in the Beta.

On a partially-related note, I'm thinking about Netflix again next month, is there any anime or anime-like shows on there worth watching? Or any cartoon released after the 90s, really?

Oh. Ok... I'm still clueless. Thanks for trying, though! :)

On a partially-related note, I'm thinking about Netflix again next month, is there any anime or anime-like shows on there worth watching? Or any cartoon released after the 90s, really?

I don't actually watch a lot of Netflix.

Bojack Horseman is good. I hear good things about the new Voltron and the 2016 Thundercats, but I've not seen either. Gravity Falls is pretty good. I think Steven Universe is on there (how much you like it will depend on your tolerance for heavy handed liberal preaching at times). If Inuyasha is still on there, that's a good show. Bob's Burgers is hit and miss for me but a lot of other people like it. If Batman: Brave and the Bold is still on there, I highly recommend that. The Boondocks is alright.
Christ my God, set my heart on fire with love in You, that in its flame I may love You with all my heart, with all my mind, and with all my soul and with all my strength, and my neighbor as myself, so that by keeping Your commandments I may glorify You the Giver of every good and perfect gift. Amen.

What was that Owen Wilson movie where Serbs are evil?

No prob.

There's actually a direct-to-DVD sequel from 2006 that's set in North Korea. No Owen Wilson, sadly.

Within a few weeks I'll probably pass PeterTheAleut and take over 2nd place on the list of most posts in forum history. #FeelsBadMan.  At one time I had hoped that Mor Ephrem would leap frog me, but he seems completely uninterested in wasting more time than me on here.
