Another four or five hour night of sleep...
Christ my God, set my heart on fire with love in You, that in its flame I may love You with all my heart, with all my mind, and with all my soul and with all my strength, and my neighbor as myself, so that by keeping Your commandments I may glorify You the Giver of every good and perfect gift. Amen.

Well, if monastics have done it for hundreds of years, I guess it can't be that unhealthy.

I hope.

That's happened to me a few times. I guess it's better than sleeping for 12 hours.

I just took a nap from about 2 PM to 8 PM. Still feel a little burnt out, but better than I did.

Somebody at Wikipedia has a bit of a sense of humor. The article on Time Cube is categorized as both "Obfuscation" and "Gibberish Language."

What is so ecclesiastical about being a best man?  Such a position is a secular construct we adopted into our Orthodox ceremonies anyway.

Normally they're  the same person, unless the groom has a best man in mind who is not Orthodox.

I didn't think there was any hence my reply. Aren't we talking about the guy holding a large taper during the marriage ceremony?

wrong, ending Standard Time (aka daylight wasting time) is what we should do, we shouldn't switch times, but we should stay on daylight saving s time

Would it even make a difference, though? If DST was always on, you wouldn't notice the extra hour.

it's not about the amount, but the timing of the light, light in then evening is more useful.

Except the time when sunset is the latest is already on DST, so it wouldn't make it any later in the late spring/summer, but would have an affect on those November days where there is decent weather during the day, but the sun sets at 5 PM. So you can't do anything outside after work.

DST is Portuguese for "sexually transmitted disease", lol  :police:

Reminds me of the Epica show I went one week ago, the band was baffled as it had just found out their name sounds like "it's a penis" in Portuguese.

Can someone explain to me the journalistic rationale for headlines like this:

Jacksonville projected to see its industrial base crumble by 2022: Professor

If a headline has a claim or opinion, and you're going to go to the trouble of mentioning the source in the headline, it makes more sense to me to put that source first, so that it's clear not only who thinks/says the thing, but also to make clear what kind of story (or at least headline) this is. I know it's not a big deal, but it just seems backwards to me to put the attribution at the end, and considering how nit-picky people involved with publishing can be I figured it might not be mere whim and there might be actual reasons behind it?

Simple: Headlines are meant to grab attention, sometimes by sensationalism.

God is dead and Melissa Joan Hart has killed Him...
Christ my God, set my heart on fire with love in You, that in its flame I may love You with all my heart, with all my mind, and with all my soul and with all my strength, and my neighbor as myself, so that by keeping Your commandments I may glorify You the Giver of every good and perfect gift. Amen.

I want to just say again how much I appreciate Asteriktos's quotes-from-the-Fathers threads. Often so powerful.
"Love ... is an abyss of illumination, a mountain of fire ... . It is the condition of angels, the progress of eternity" (Climacus).

Yes we who are far from sainthood we can recognize a living saint and I'm talking from personal experience.Yes they are gentle soo gentle it can not be described it is like gentleness and humility in one and also they have this light this energy it's beyond words...and when you are near them you feel ecstatic and very happy

Vain existence can never exist, for "unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain." (Psalm 127)

If the faith is unchanged and rock solid, then the gates of Hades never prevailed in the end.

I believe that serves as sufficient review.
Blessed Nazarius practiced the ascetic life. His clothes were tattered. He wore his shoes without removing them for six years.

Take a breath, read Ecclesiastes 1:9.
