Spent a few minutes in Romanian vespers before confession today. Felt a bit weird since I couldn't understand any of it. I assumed that I would have catched a few familiar words but no.

Amin?

Couldn't hear that either. Can't remember whether there are any at the very beginning of vespers. I was there only something like 10 minutes  before my confession started and it wasn't in the church but in another room.

Did they give you booze before or after confession?

Sadly no. It was a Finnish church with assumingly just a visiting Romanian priest. Hope the priest will teach our clergy some proper Orthodox phronema.

Weird. Out of 3 other guys in men's group (not counting the pastoral assistant and visiting priest) one retired from the company that sold our design group to another one, and one works at one of our biggest customers. God must have led me to the right parish  ;D

I got clobbered in the head twice with an ax today.  Thank God is was a rubber one.

Still, the guy wielding it was pretty strong, and so it hurt.

The sanctuary cities passages in the OT already covers situations involving manslaughter, e.g. accidentally killing a priest with an ax while he is blessing your new storage shed. Do we really need rubber axes? Are we so soft and weak nowadays, or are people so incompetent, that we have to safety-proof everything!?

I'm taking a Filipino Martial Arts class, and apparently axes are part of the repertoire.  Rubber ones are better for training than real ones, because I don't imagine they would have too many students if they trained with the real thing.

Watching the U.S. Presidential debate last night, I realized that when he listens to other people Trump makes the same faces as someone at a formal dinner party who is super drunk but trying to hide it.
Blessed Nazarius practiced the ascetic life. His clothes were tattered. He wore his shoes without removing them for six years.

I hear Christmas in Copenhagen is very serious business.

There are only tears in Holy Russia doesn't sound like too cheerful Christmas theme.

A good idea. I've never visited in the British Empire. On what price they are selling wives these days?

Huh. Bono from U2 is now a "woman of the year". Apparently you don't even need to try to be transgendered to be transgendered now, just say "Women are great!" and start some kind of charity to prove it, or something like that.

Russia

There are only tears in Holy Russia doesn't sound like too cheerful Christmas theme

May God grant you tears of repentance.
Also, that may be because they day you think is Christmas is still somewhere in the Nativity fast in Holy Russia, though it seems it's also the day of the first North American martyrs. Wait until yours says "January 7", or better yet, "January 19"  :D

I want to get away from home on Christmas and could probably get a few days off in addition to national holidays. Where to travel in Europe?
