farofa...yes..

less sure about the ants....but maybe we were just too poor for ants in the amazon   ;)

Actually the farofa with ants is common in northeast part of São Paulo state, between Rio and Minas, there you can find this kind of farofa. I am not a specialist in amazonic cuisine, but they eat other weird stuff, some river comunities eat a kind of clam that is called turu, they eat it with lemon and salt.

The most famous 'wierd thing' is Tacacá....using Tucupi sauce made from manioc and Jambu...makes your mouth go numb
All opinions expressed by myself are quite tragically my own, and not those of any other poster or wall hangings.

Probably don't really want to know. But it's a mollusk that lives off cellulose. So it's like a land clam that lives in and digests trees

Someone tried to rob a Russian diplomat 1 kilometer away from my house and the diplomat ended up killing the robber.  :o

We're renting our home for gringos for the Olympics. Should I first pack my stuff or pee on my bed to mark territory?

Leave me some feijoada please.

There may be urine in it.
We call it "tropical spice".

I will be wary the next time anyone ever says that any dish has "tropical spice".

They (or at least a close relative) eat ships. It was such a bad problem that copper sheathing had to be introduced on all wooden ships to prevent them from being sunk.

Bought some mock chicken nuggets today. I don't know what kind of Chinese wizardy is needed to make those but they tasted exactly like their actual counterparts. Buddhists are crazy.

Kenneth Copeland is at it again.

“If Christians don’t support Trump, they are risking the wrath of God....Trump has been chosen by God, and by rejecting him, they are rejecting God. They could be punished with barrenness, poverty or even having a gay child.”

Wait....so does that mean he doesn't think being gay is a choice? I'm confused.

I'm at the point where Im sort of, almost OK with Secularists in charge, I'm not happy about it, but folks like Copeland, and that Crefo dollar dude makes a mockery out of Christianity.

I kind of like that. Not that I'd agree but according to the link he actually holds unapologetically just plain  irrational and old-fashioned viewpoints that one rarely sees in the Western European countries anymore. Views that sound like a parody even without any further puns. That's almost cute.

I'm a bit sad that I was too tired to sneak into the arena yesterday and watch Phelps, but I hope I can do it the nex time. Tomorrow I'm finally watching a game officially: athletism. My favourite one to watch during the Olympics, I think it's the sport in which the superhuman characteristics of the athletes get more obvious.

We're having building work done, and one of the builders just noticed the icthus tattoo on my shoulder. He asked if I was Greek. I said no, but I had the tattoo because I was a Christian. He nodded sagely and said he was a Christian too and Greek, and went about his business. A few minutes later he came up to me with a puzzled look and asked "so, you are English, and you are an Orthodox Christian?" I said no, not yet.

I have never seen anyone look quite so baffled.   :D

I've been meeting many Macedonians and Russians and they all look confused when I'm say I'm Orthodox, too. Most people in this side of the world seem to be unaware of the wideness of the "diaspora".

Knowledge of sins of acquaintances is a terrible spiritual boomer. It leads us to sin by judging far beyond how we should as Christians, and it makes us feel more alone. I don't know why people think I should know some things.   :-\

Indeed, cursed is the one who trusts in men, if someone relied on me for sanctity they would be lost too.

Do they see orthodoxy as a 'ethnic religion' like, russian religion or macedonian religion?

Yes, one particular Macedonian journalist asked what kind of Orthodox we were, I smiled and said: "Brazilian Orthodox!" He seemed even more confused so I said: "We started in Greek Orthodoxy", to which he answered quickly: "No, this is wrong!" (LOL), so I told him we were now under the Church of Poland, and although he didn't know there were Orthodox Poles, he seemed relieved he wasn't speaking with someone related to a nemesis of their country.

I'd like to be a Russian Jewish convert to Orthodoxy. Don't ask why.

I know a few Russian Orthodox Jews, not first gen. converts, though.

HH John X made today a 10-minute-long visit at my parish. I may have got into some pictures.

That's too bad.
Please don't project meta-debates onto me.

Lol!

Somewhat more security from pogroms?

Handsomeness, interesting culture, network, still somewhat a Slav, still an Orthodox Christian.

Also, people say I look like a
an Ashkenazi Jew while I'm just 1/16 Sephardi while I look a lot like my 1/4 Jewish gramma, maybe actually being one would save me saliva and boring stories.

Sounds silly but I like imagining myself born in different conditions and Russian Orthodox Jew is a recent favourite.

In case some folks here are interested in ethnic Finnish Orthodoxy, here's a Google translation about how Karelian women used to dress like. IIRC non-Orthodox had a different kind of dress back in the days when religion and ethnicity were synonymous.

So I've had an Android tablet about two years now and I realize only after buying an Android phone that Androids can be encrypted too. I thought only idevices are encrypted. Not sure it it actually makes surfing and using apps anyhow more safe but will try it anyway.

farofa...yes..

less sure about the ants....but maybe we were just too poor for ants in the amazon   ;)

In America, the rich eat clams.
