I opted for taking the young one into town to raid the comic book store. We came back with an armful of freebies, plus a stack of Star Trek issues for 50p each, and enjoyed a cold drink out into the bargain. And not a naked butt in sight.

In my area when a naked butt can sit on bare soil, it's time to drop a seed in it.

A bit mixed feelings. I love the idea that Ukraine won Russia and tha Australia didn't won. The latter because Australia is not in Europe. But Ukraine's song was fairly bad and there shouldn't be politics involved. I voted for Czech Republic.

I think it was a good year, overall. Most songs were from okay to 'eh, whatever'; at least nothing cringeworthy. Some of the nicest (Finland, Moldova, Montenegro) didn't make it to the final, which was sad. The ones I found most memorable were Bulgaria, Spain, Cyprus and Georgia.

Somehow my children's godfather got to briefly host the Kursk root icon in his home this week before it headed to the mission an hour south of us.

Didn't know about it until after the fact, and didn't get to see it at church. Again. Maybe next time.

Americans trying Syrian food:

https://youtu.be/zBOGKvKuC_g

I think that food is from a different region I'm used to. The way they are describing the taste and the easy some of the food looks (like the kishek) seems somewhat different.

The song in the background is a classic, and one of my all time favorites, it's an old Bedouin song called "ya ein moulaytin".  Here is the beautiful and talented Samira Tawfik singing it:

She was born in village about 40 miles east of our village.

And happy birthday to Punch!  I miss him, whether or not the feeling is mutual.  :P

I like your avatar. And would strongly recommend etc.

Is it really too much to ask for people to type my name correctly?

This week alone I have been 'Densie' at least twice (different people) and Demise makes a regular appearance as well.

All opinions expressed by myself are quite tragically my own, and not those of any other poster or wall hangings.
