And to add to that, try thinking about the concepts of Information Theory, specially more "post-modern" concepts that state that information underlies matter, Plato's ideal forms, Quantic Information, and creatures and creation as Divine logismoi since they were spoken into existence by God and Adam had to "name" them, that is, giving a word to refer to that materialized piece of information, memory as a way of reaccessing information that exists supratemporaly instead of just intratemporal registers of the past and you get whole lot of fun on these issues. :)
Many Energies, 3 Persons, 2 Natures, 1 God, 1 Church, 1 Baptism, and 1 Cup. The Son begotten only from the Father, the Spirit proceeding only from the Father, Each glorifying the Other. The Son sends the Spirit, the Spirit Reveals the Son, the Father is seen in the Son. The Spirit spoke through the Prophets and Fathers and does so even today.

When walking down the hallway at the university, I often enjoy looking at all the articles and bulletins on display. Then, today, when I was on my way home, my eyes coincidentally fell upon a short article promoting Fr. Seraphim Rose's Nihilism: the Root of the Revolution of the Modern Age.

At our festival butter is substituted for much of it.

We buy lots of oil. Festival supplies are listed in the parish bulletin in advance, to encourage donations. I'm not sure how much butter we use.

WOW! I wasn't aware of this bit of news from close to six months ago. James Best, best known for his role as Sheriff Rosco in The Dukes of Hazzard (TV series), died on April 6 of this year. May his memory be eternal!  :'(

Yes.

No horror story?  Good.

Not at all.  Our prosphora is a little different from yours, so I don't know how it would work for you, but I always had better results with a toaster oven than I did with a conventional oven.

The Old Rite makes the best prosphora. At least in my experience.

If you had the recipe, you could always duplicate it on your own if you were really that curious.

not all are the same.  I traveled far and wide and thus far, the best is my childhood parish St. George and St. Shenouda, Jersey City, NJ, even after the guy who did it passed away, he seemed to have taught the next generation the same technique (I have been there as recent as the beginning of this month)

There is going to be some difference within a tradition, of course, but I still stand by my comment.  Even the most lackluster Coptic bread was better than the average Antiochian, GOA, OCA, ROCOR, etc. equivalent.

The only problem I have with the antidoron in my parish is that the priest always gives us a huge handful each. I was hoping for one or two tiny pieces. I'm the only Orthodox person in my family, I don't have anyone to whom to give the rest.

The only problem I have with the antidoron in my parish is that the priest always gives us a huge handful each. I was hoping for one or two tiny pieces. I'm the only Orthodox person in my family, I don't have anyone to whom to give the rest.
they (your family) won't eat the antidoron?

Vain existence can never exist, for "unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain." (Psalm 127)

If the faith is unchanged and rock solid, then the gates of Hades never prevailed in the end.

I did ask my parents to go to church with me, but they didn't like the idea. So, I figured antidoron was also a no-go. :( I may ask them again, though.
My only weakness is, well, never mind

But still if you ever get the chance, check that parish out :)...I call Jersey City "the mother land" :P

Who will be my tour guide on this pilgrimage?  :P

You need a guide to cross the river and go to NJ?

weak NY'rs....

I don't need a guide for that, though an opportunity to worship with Mina is just the kind of encouragement I need to tolerate New Jersey.  Basically, I don't want to show up at a random NJ church and, when asked what brought me there, have to confess "I came for the orban".

the best antidoron, personally, has been the Antiochians.

Nah.  Coptic bread is the best bread, hands down.
not all are the same.

Even the most lackluster Coptic bread was better than the average Antiochian, GOA, OCA, ROCOR, etc. equivalent.

You hush your mouth.

I love how it doesn't bother you to criticise Antiochian, GOA, or ROCOR bread.  The chrism is really drying well.

Worse comes to worse, you can always eat what you want on Sunday and keep the rest for consumption during the week.  I like doing this when I can.
