This is the first time in five years I didn't get burned with dripping wax from the Paschal candle.

An oc.net riddle: why do the topics most discussed on the rest of the forum (Jews, pews, gays, sex/contraception, papistry, etc.) almost never get brought up in the "Prayer Forum"?

And the answer is... ___________________

A moment of real need and piety doesn't mix with polemic?

I can think of nastier explanations, but I won't mention them.

But to hear some talk, gays/jews/etc. are going to soon cause the collapse of civilization, or make our kids into demonic murderers, or some such thing; wouldn't that be a more important thing to pray about than asking for prayers about our individual inconveniences? I'm not saying I want that, only that there seems to be a disconnect or discontinuity.

Please pray for Jews, pews, gays, sex/contraception, papistry, etc.

"Lord, have mercy" replies only or you're banned.

Disconnect or discontinuity -- or crack in the façade or fragmentation in the personality. We're not a healthy crew here, most of us.

Is there a trend to add "A.D." onto things (band names, movies, etc.), or am I just seeing phantoms? Oh, and by using the AD I'm talking about things which seem to have no relevance to its use, and are just added randomly, like (to give a fake documentary example): The Life Story of Pumpernickel Pete A.D.

Whenever unity is mentioned in any thread, I think of:

Happy shall he be, that shall take and dash thy little ones against the rock. Alleluia.

Believe it or not, there is a 15th-century chronicle of Russian history called the Sofia First Chronicle.

Coincidence?
I'm not going to be posting as much on OC.Net as before. I might stop in once in a while though. But I've come to realize that real life is more important.

I really need to practise my spoken English. Apparently I can  write somewhat sensible English and I understand  pretty much everything spoken around me. I also know how words should be pronounced and sentences constructed but in the rare occasion I actually open my mouth I end up uttering mindless babble with a horrible accent. I have a bit more problems with Swedish but somewhat same logic applies to it too.

English is the norm around here but what about others languages. How to learn to speak a language with rately having any regular use for it? Any ideas? Reading aloud alone seems weird but I've sometimes thought it might have an effect.

it would be kinda cool to have a thread of recordings to hear other peoples voices.  I imagine that Gebre sounds like Bob Marley. It makes reading his posts sound awesome. I think Kissel probably sounds like Hulk Hogan. As for kelly? I'm  pretty sure she is just a squeaky mouse IRL.

You folks should hear Jason's voice. It is the bastard seed of Christopher Hitchens and Morgan Freeman.

I imagine Arachne sounds like Harriet Oleson with a British accent, Mor like Ken Foree but more Indian, Orthodox4Life an angry Baby Spice, Gebre clearly Bob Marley, and maybe Jonathon as Tom Hanks.

Fishing isn't actually about the fish. It's just a social event and an excellent excuse for a champagne breakfast. I don't think the girl scouts are into the latter, though, so you'll have to bring your own.

Y'all do things different in Dutchland.

Beer is the only appropriate beverage when fishing.  Girl scouts....no clue.  Kool-Aid?

Not for breakfast.  Beer is strictly for after 10:30 AM.

"Strictly"...pshaw!  Beer is a very healthy breakfast drink.

I imagine...Mor like Ken Foree but more Indian

What say you, Kelly?

Mor has a smooth, oddly monotone voice. He should seek a career in narrating audiobooks.

ZZ sounds like Johnny Cash.

RE: ZZ.  Yes, I imagine peoples voices when I read their posts.  And with ZZ, I never imagined her with a Johnny Cash voice, but can totally believe it.  It is always jarring when I talk to the factory reps in {redacted} and their accent is waaaay south of the Mason-Dixon line.

Meet the Kobe Burger. Sold at the Hamburgueria Nacional, owned by a Japanese chef, it is the local most expensive burger, made of pure kobe wagyu meet mixed with swiss cheese and japanese seasonings.

Many Energies, 3 Persons, 2 Natures, 1 God, 1 Church, 1 Baptism, and 1 Cup. The Son begotten only from the Father, the Spirit proceeding only from the Father, Each glorifying the Other. The Son sends the Spirit, the Spirit Reveals the Son, the Father is seen in the Son. The Spirit spoke through the Prophets and Fathers and does so even today.

That is almost the Rachel Weisz of hamburgers.  Almost.

Is the 'almost' because it has Swiss cheese? I like Swiss.
