The only decent thing to come out of 4chan was Ben Huh, who posted lolcats there until 2007, when he left to create I Can Has Cheezburger.

Lolcats must be one of the worst things to come out of that wretched place.

What if Father Lazarus is descended from the Assassins?

As the incredibly believable story of the Assassin's Creed series would have us believe, yes.

Oh yes. I've always known that Fr Lazarus was an Assassin.

Unfortunately for Assassin's Creed their physics is not as believable as their story.....

I want to make a picture or cartoon of Pagan's being upset and Christians happy and smiling they stole Pagan traditions. The picture next to it would be Christians upset and Muslims smiling for stealing Christian traditions. roflcopter

You can't have Muslims smiling as broadly as Christians, tho, as there are still Christians.

Actually you can. Both Mormons and Muslims are Heretics, not Pagans or Schismatics. A Heretic still worships the one true God despite not being a member of the Church and having a flaved understanding of God.

How can Jesus be the Word of God without being God? I've never understood that logic whether it's been Muslims or Jehovah's Witnesses making the claim.

I can give a little more leeway on saying he's the Messiah but not God, though I think that claim kind of cracks the more you think about it, too.

You must be thinking of some very specific meaning of "word," then, because I don't follow. Can someone be the Hand of God and not God? Can something be the Footstool of God and not God? &c.

... Oh and my comment seems to have gone right over you guys' heads. What I meant was that the Christians in your cartoon should be drawn as happier than the Muslims, because they had gotten rid of paganism but Islam has not gotten rid of Christianity ...

Again, wow. I worked in IT for quite a while, and we worked with plenty of women (including women managers -- in fact, our VP was a woman), and I still say that you need to find other employment or maybe another part of the country -- cause that's just not how it has to be and it's not right.

Well, the Earth is the footstool of God (Matthew 5:35).

I know what you mean about "Word." That's what I don't get about the Muslim/general Unitarian argument that Jesus is the Word of God but not God himself (or as the JW's translate John 1:1- "and the Word was a god)."

Ouch the South. If not that, then the infamously-surreal Beltway culture. Regardless, move on. :) Lots of businesses in the Northwest are nice.

Your point is that you can see the logic of someone calling Jesus the Word of God yet not God? Ok, given the examples you cite, I guess I can agree. It seems a bit odd given the Gospel of John, still.

The great thing about this forum is how all the sardonic, halfway interested "seekers", never-converting-but-fascinated-with-Orthodoxy heterodox, and barely-Orthodox-for-two-months converts always know better than everyone else (including our seasoned hierarchs and holy fathers) how the Church should be run and feel free to launch into haughty, scathing critiques of the Church all the time.  The only thing better is when the more timid, chickenhearted, Orthodox defer to these folks for fear of looking "pharisaical", "ethnocentric", "triumphalistic", or "judgmental".

I would love it if more Orthodox who are knowledgeable and can have a discussion would participate here. If you know of any, ask them to join.

Randomly, I am going to Iceland in April.

All opinions expressed by myself are quite tragically my own, and not those of any other poster or wall hangings.

I'd assumed they'd been and fled.

Have you considered the possibility that you've defeated all of them, including the Great Mor Ephrem?

I don't understand ??? I would welcome such people so that I could have some theological conversations with them. The only things I wish to 'defeat' are silly statements like that one must be in communion with Constantinople to be Orthodox, or that Constantine made Christianity the official religion of the Roman Empire, or that the Bible canon was settled in the 4th century.

SolEX01 didn't intend on complimenting you, Justin, he just wanted to take another unprovoked jab at me.  It's one of those nights.

Not really.  It's hard to answer Justin's questions when he has all the answers.

I certainly will!  It was a very spur of the 'oh that's cheap airfare.  Really really cheap' decision.

And since men hate taking technical direction from a woman, I will later hear that 'I was undiplomatic again and should learn to temper my opinions so as to make things harmonious '

Go me

Wow. You really need a better boss.

Welcome to being a female in the tech industry. I don't really recommend it. ;)

You also get people asking you if you 'really want to do this job, just becaus you like Star Trek that doesn't make you geeky enough for sysadmin'

( and yes. That's a quote)

Again, wow. I worked in IT for quite a while, and we worked with plenty of women (including women managers -- in fact, our VP was a woman), and I still say that you need to find other employment or maybe another part of the country -- cause that's just not how it has to be and it's not right.

It's actually where the team is from more then where I am

Sorry. But WA D.C. Is the the land of non enlightenment as far as I can tell

Ouch the South. If not that, then the infamously-surreal Beltway culture. Regardless, move on. :) Lots of businesses in the Northwest are nice.

DC is not the South.
