I am incredibly upset... I sent out a package to Montana on the 4th and it still hasn't gotten there. My friend who is the recipient has had mail go missing from her tiny rinky-dink post office multiple times (she has to pick it up at the office itself), and methinks there is a thief working there.

What was I mailing? Oh, just a full-size knitted blanket that I slaved over since the spring. The worst part is, her toddler knew that it was coming and is upset that it's not there yet. I'm so angry. I will not use USPS for packages anymore.

The blanket showed up on Saturday to a very happy little girl and a very relieved Kelly! I even got a precious video of her opening the package. So grateful - I was praying very hard that it would make it to her.

Praise the Lord!
The memory of God should be treasured in our hearts like the precious pearl mentioned in the Holy Gospel. Our life's goal should be to nurture and contemplate God always within, and never let it depart, for this steadfastness will drive demons away from us. - Paraphrased from St. Philotheus of Sinai
Writings from the Philokalia: On Prayer of the Heart,
Translated from the Russian by E. Kadloubovksy and G.E.H. Palmer, Faber and Faber, London, Boston, 1992 printing.

I ripped on Punch for calling the Papacy an "anti-Christ" a few months ago.  When I heard about the synod, Punch was the first person I thought of, oddly.

Rosemary Clooney - Mambo Italiano

I've had this song stuck in my head all day for no reason.  I hadn't heard it in many, many months.

The bad part is that it's only the "Hey, mambo.  Mambo Italiano," part, repeating over and over again.

 :'( :'( :'(

I hate this stupid song.

GET OUT OF MY HEAD

Maybe it is some unresolved jealousy of mr George Clooney and his hot, rich and smart new bride and their Italian wedding?

Do you need to talk about this?

All opinions expressed by myself are quite tragically my own, and not those of any other poster or wall hangings.

Try replacing it with Volare:

Volare, oh oh
E contare, oh oh oh oh
Nel blu, dipinto di blu
Felice di stare lassu
E volavo, volavo felice piu in alto del sole ed ancora piu su
Mentre il mondo pian piano spariva lontano laggiu
Una musica dolce suonava soltanto per me

So, I'm thinking about(and most likely doing) going toireland for 6-8 weeks to do student teaching.

I find it stupid, in a way, that they require everyone, including those UK citizens living in Northern Ireland, to have a visa to enter. Though, it would be nice to finally have some stamps in my passport book, haha.

Also, does anyone know if I(as a US citizen) need a visa to enter France and the Schengen area, and if so where do i get one of these?

Canadians, fwiw, need a visa for the EU. Once armed with that, one can go anywhere in the EU and within the EU.
As to how to get such a visa, ask a travel agent [ or a EU consul if there's one nearby
But that might not be valid for 'working.'.

I'll be in Ireland for the student teaching part, so  Schengen rules wont apply there, and Ill bet my intro to the programme, or an info session will answer what I need for Ireland.

Just, for travel when im there, i dunno.

Also, so exicted to go visit birthplaces and the like for all my favourite irish authors

That's okay, I got some  Plastilina Mosh stuck in my head now.  Again, I haven't heard this song in a very long time.  My mind is probably purging all the music I've listened to.  Ever.

And now something a bit more serious.

Do you ever go to liturgies which are celebrated on weekday evenings? How to combine the eucharistic fast and having a job ? I went to one yesterday. I guess it was nice to go to church outside of weekends but I had pretty hard time with low blood sugar levels or something both yesterday and today.

Our Priest says to fast from noon if one has an 'office-job' or not to fast if one is involved in heavy physical labour. The Communion is of greater importance than the fast.

That's what I did. I guess I didn't eat enough but it seems kind of antithetical to eat some super lunch just to fulfill the letter of the law.

Are you allowed to feed it some meat (like chicken)?  It might be quiet afterwards.  Do a little Pavlovian experiment.  For every time they bark, take away good food.  For everytime it sits quietly sticking its tongue out and wagging its tail at you, feed it a little piece.

I find it somewhat amusing that a lesbian would mock someone as weirdo.

I was at the mall the other night and a random lesbian rudely called me a "weirdo" as she walked by me. For some reason it affected me more than it should have and I cried inside of a bathroom. I'm having a down day...

She called you a weirdo for no reason?
