Oh man, tornados are such a huge fear of mine. We didn't have them where I grew up, but they happen here in the flatlands. :/ Every time it starts to storm I'm always asking my husband "Do we need to go to the basement?" Meanwhile he's sitting on the front porch watching and looking at me like I'm a crazy person.

Finding it difficult to reach the nice, ripe, yellow cherries in my tree, I decided to put 21 years worth of ballet classes to good use. Being able to do leaps and to really stretch are useful tools whilst picking cherries.

I beat my crazy neighbor to it this year. This woman thinks nothing of dragging a stepladder into our yard and dropping cherries into a big bowl. She also stole a pelican statue from our yard. Like I said - she is crazy. She's really going to have to work for it this year because the only ones I left on the bottom branches are either rotten or have wormholes.  angel

Bah to you!

I love the Cup and will now spend the next few weeks cobbling coverage together in about 10 languages, since no one here covers it all.

P.s. It's Football

Admittedly, I wouldn't listen to baseball if I wasn't quite interested in the local team.  angel

why Radio?

I don't have cable or network TV, and I have no interest in hoing out. I guess I could find a stream online somewhere, but I'm not going to feel like staring at a small screen and watching, so I'll probably just listen and do some project or other I've been putting off.

What's more interesting, watching grass grow or paint dry?

You can get quite a high off of paint fumes, so I am partial to that.  On the other hand, watching grass grow is nice and peaceful, so that can also be a good option.

Hmmm, this is a toughie.  I'm stumped. Could we sniff paint while chilling outside?  I think I would definitely take that over watching most sports.  Handegg excluded of course.  Wink

Sometimes, I want to post in a politics thread really bad, but I know that if I do, I will never see the end of it when I check for unread topics.  I wish I could have an alter ego solely for posting in the politics forum. Then, when I'm feeling grumpy, I could go over there, yell at everyone and then come back to the fun part of the forum.  Tongue

Today I bought a bottle of Metaxa 7* since it is so often lauded on here. It tasted very much like whiskey with a bit of rose water. I'm not particularly fond of whiskey.

Today, all I have been hearing is the sound of packing tape being unrolled. ALL DAY

our offices are moving tomorrow and apparently everyone (except me) has waited until the last possible second to pack their stuff and seal boxes.

I just left an office and a cube that I first sat down in 3 years ago this month.

Very strange feeling knowing i won't go back to that particular location ever again.

A sign on a local restaurant says either:

Sunshine and ice cream are great together.

Or:

Sunshine and ice cream are great to get her.

It's hard to tell which they mean. Perhaps it's true either way.

So I went to the movie theater, approached the desk with a terrible hurry and asked for the ticket. The clerck looked a bit confused and said "I don't think we have a movie like that today." I turned out that the movie is on monday and I had come on a wrong day. Even my cellphone's calendar had the correct date and I still came on a wrong day.

I think I need a holiday. Or at least good, long night sleep.

I wasn't inducted into the church on Pentecost like I was supposed to because I missed catechism classes.
My car has broken down twice in the last week. I can't afford any more tows to the mechanic who can't figure out what is wrong anyway.

Ah yes, one of the things I actually agree with Fr. Seraphim Rose about: a dislike for cars.

How long will it get delayed, do you think?

Yes, yes, youth is wasted on the young. And so is accumulated experience wasted on the old, the positives of modernism wasted on moderns, the beauty of Christianity wasted on Christians, the utility of scholarship wasted on scholars, and on and on.

Maybe if you didn't try to correct him so forcefully when he said "civil wrongs" instead of "civil rights"...
