Time for yet another meme about Finnish grammar.

I wonder why we have a lot less so many fewer immigrants than many other European countries.

OR:

I wonder why we have a lot [much when being a bit more formal] less immigration than many other European countries.

LOL. Apparently you had very adamant English teachers.

Anyway, a functional ESL? I thought you were born American. Did you grew up somewhere else?

So I'm reading Dracula by Bram Stoker in English. Usually I'm all good when it comes to written English but sometimes various characters start to talk in some incomprehensible language  that doesn't resemble English a bit.

It sounds like a Yorkshire dialect. I'm a bit rusty on it these days, I'm afraid. Arachne would be capable of helping out.  Smiley

I believe I needed to spend a whole decade in Yorkshire in order to really understand a dialect like that. We have dialects over here too but I don't think  differences between different dialects are so vast that they seem to be in the UK.

I'm starting to understand a colleague of mine who has studied few years in Edinburgh. He had flatmates from all over the World but since the whole World speaks English nowadays everybody understood each other. The only problem was the only actual Scottish flatmate. Nobody understood what he was talking about,

At the end of the liturgy, we took lots of icons and walked three times around the outside of the church.

Sounds nice. I was hoping for something like that at mine, but it ended up mostly just kids carrying icons during the Gospel procession. Oh well. Tongue

It was 70 degrees today, beautiful. Tomorrow they are forecasting for up to an inch of rain. Tomorrow night it is supposed to get into the mid-teens and snow. When are we going to invent a weather control net like in those sci-fi shows?

Im pretty much taking all vacation time I have. Will go back home for a bit with a stop or two along the road. Then thd plan is to get back work a few more months maybe end of summer but not having a set date yet then quit my 8 yrs old workplace and take a long bike trip prob from Chicago to the west coast and after that we shall see.  this awful winter helped me be more at peace with the thought of changing a few things.

I hope sooner rather than later. It was beautiful here too, and we're supposed to get snow tomorrow, which makes me ragey.

I am finding it a bit creepy....that since I joined here...I have suddenly been able to start sounding out Greek words from the actual texts people cut and paste, and recognize them.

I feel like such a goody-two-shoes saying this, but I don't care. I had my first ever overdose symptoms (not just side effects) from taking a medication, and I feel like I have achieved something this week! Also, I'm glad that I took less than half of the prescribed dose. Cheesy

I feel like such a goody-two-shoes saying this, but I don't care. I had my first ever overdose symptoms (not just side effects) from taking a medication, and I feel like I have achieved something this week! Also, I'm glad that I took less than half of the prescribed dose. Cheesy

Hope you are okay. Smiley

So far so good!  Smiley  I'll just call the doc on Monday morning.

Also, I just spent an hour and a half creating an image for my desktop, and then when it was done I hated it and found an image on Google in about 10 seconds that I liked much more. I hate when that happens!

One could 'boil' an egg in water at that temp.

It may have felt that way, but thankfully it was originally 82 F. It has since been revised, and is currently forecast at 64 F.
