Ayn Rand is probably the best and worst example of pseduophilosopher of all time. Since I set the standards myself, I come in a close second.

I think beheadings are the worst form of killing someone. We should really really hurt people who do it IMO.
Bah, that is nothing.  I've been beheaded at least three times that I remember.  Burnings at the stake are the WORST. You can't get that smell out of your nose for WEEKS.
Can you stay busy away from this board indefinitely?

Thanks.
That time of the month? My bad.  ;)
The term planet earth is an innovation which has arisen in recent centuries with the error of heliocentrism.

If one wants to confess a pure doctrine of Orthodoxy, they should be careful not to refer to the earth as a planet, unlike the current Pope as well as Patriarch Kirill and Patriarch Bartholomew, who regularly speak in error when they refer to our planet earth.

I agreed to give a lecture about some poems of Cavafy, but now all of my fellow students will probably think I'm gay.

Of course, it has nothing to do with that time you spent time with a girl, ate the pie she made for you, but skipped out before you could have dessert.  :P

LOL. No. If you would have known how crazy she is you would have done the same.

Nice to see Protestantanism can't rub all the Catholicism out, even after centuries.

What other saints are popular up there?

Well, saint Olav is celebrated in Norway and on the Faroe Islands (I am not totally sure about Sweden). As far as I know, there are three saints, who still have official Feast days: Saint Lucy, Saint John the Baptist(Midsummer Celebration in practice) and Saint Martin of Tours. None of these saints have much to do with the actual festivities, however.   :-[

I'd rather take ZealousZeal's finals and get a C+

I'm fresh out of finals at the moment, but you are more than welcome to the next crop after the Spring semester if you'd like.
My almanac reads when inspiration strikes, take notes...

How did a Sicilian girl become so popular up North?  :)

Blessed feast to you.

I thought you lived in New York?  You know the answer to your own question. ;)

Ugggghhhh.... I bombed one of my finals so badly it brought my grade down to a C. I've gotten nothing but A's in over two years. Blah.

Sorry to hear that!  Will you still be given credit for the class, or will you have to repeat it and get a higher grade for credit?

I'll get credit. Not to shift blame because I could have applied myself more (but I guess to share it?), but he could not have set that class up any worse. And it irritates me when professors don't use the text.

Same reason I'm drinking out of my Bermuda mug, thinking tropical thoughts.

:)

What other saints are popular up there?

Finns accuse St. James of throwing a cold stone into the water on his feast day (25.7.) and hence making swimming waters more cold. I don't think that makes him anyhow popular though.
But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.

I took a couple of classes like that recently.  The (adjunct) professors teaching the classes ignored the required texts entirely, and yet the exams were designed for all sections of the class by a couple of (full) professors who focus on the required texts in their own classes.  And you chose your section at registration by day and time, not by professor.  So if you didn't have the same odd schedule as the professors making the exam, or if you didn't do all of your reading twice and thrice over, you were basically in danger of not getting the minimum required grade to get credit.  Very annoying.

I know plenty of folk who got married and had children in and around 19 but it's still such an odd thing to be asked if you've got any.

Took me a little too long to register the professor's question.

Adjuncts are pretty much the worst professors. Like HS teachers atleast do something little in the way that resembled educating.

I had one for a research paper class and all she did all day was read Huffington Post instead of teaching us how to write a research paper. Then my geography adjunct was a Vietnam vet which we spent two weeks discussing his background.

Worst money I have ever spent on. I should get in touch with the school board and complain.

Hopefully the next time around will be better since you know what you're getting into.  Or was this not your first time with that professor?

Or maybe they can shut down colleges period cause they are pointless.
