Pardon for being an ignorant European but why it isn't a southern state?

Because it's full of retired New Yorkers?

Actually, it is a southern state.  It's in the geographic south.  It was also in The South (Confederate States of America).  * must've cleaned his glasses with one of his dirty shirts again  Roll Eyes.

When I lived there I heard Floridians joke all the time that it wasn't a Southern state... so... maybe my ears need cleaned out  Tongue
Maybe. Tongue  Just cuz they joked about it doesn't make it so.  But it is a southern state and it was in the CSA.  Floridians--what do they know, anyway?? (Sorry, Biro  Cool.)

Settle down Beavis  Kiss  I never said it was a fact, I just mentioned it as a question you can ask to see if someone is an American. Generally those type of questions are cultural things, not factual ones. Though I guess even some Americans haven't heard it. Hopefully that wouldn't have got TheTrisagion shot!

Okay, Butthead Cheesy--I's settled  Grin.  Hot dogs, anyone?

Florida isn't in the South because of the Spanish part, and that it isn't one of the 13 original colonies.

Florida isn't in the South because of the Spanish part, and that it isn't one of the 13 original colonies.

 Huh Huh

Where's that put Louisiana, then?  It has a French part, a Cajun part, wasn't one of the 13 original colonies, is well SOUTH of the Mason-Dixon line, and was part of the CSA.

To be honest, I really couldn't care less about Florida--it really should be it's own country anyway, and then we could embargo it like Cuba  Grin Grin Grin.

Louisiana, on the other hand, is the home of this well-known elixir, which makes virtually every inedible dish edible:

Kolyma Tales is better. IMO.

Cyrillic- Do you like Dostoevsky? I'm about to finish The Possessed, and I think I like it better than either Crime and Punishment or The Idiot. It's extremely prophetic. And very, very dark with a weird mix of humor.

Kolyma Tales is excellent.  Depressing but excellent.

Personally, there's enough darkness in my own real life that reading about it elsewhere doesn't usually help.  I know, you didn't ask me, but I answered  Grin Grin.
