That'll be easy. Finns are Mongolians and Mongolians and Indians look alike.

Is there some room left for a Dutchman?

Only if you bring lots of Heineken.

But I come for the cheap alcohol. What's the point of going to Denmark if I bring the Heineken with me?

You need to bribe them. Nobody can bribe with money in Denmark, but with beer, they'll let you get away with anything.

Tell them that you're a highly educated, indian doctor. Then you're sure to get in.  Cool

I could wear a Timo Soini mask and apply for membership in Danske Folkparti.

Denmark needs to expand it's borders.  You know...more boligareal--to accommodate all of the rest of us.  Exert it's hegemony over the rest of the world, so we can all be taxed to death equally.  One World Gummint under the Danish flag.

*shrugs* I don't what a pint of beer costs in the USA. 6€ is fairly common price in here.

The beers on the tap are sometimes cheaper though. IIRC I had mine for 3,3€ on saturday.

something called sahti. not bad actually.

LOL. Of all Finnish beers you had sahti. That's random. AFAIK sahti is some kind traditional Central and Tavastian Finnish beer which is not found elsewhere in the World. I don't think even other parts of Finland have it.

Why of course. We are geographically somewhat large country after all. There are some linguistic and cultural differences between different parts/tribes but they have been diminishing after such miracles as "car", "train" and "industrialization" were invented.

I'm getting more and more convinced that we should just join together in a Nordic Union with icelandic as the Lingua Franca.

When is Finland gonna join the Russian Federation?

When Hell is freezing. Oh wait, it already did that when Finland won the Eurovision.

However, you should be warned, that the political world is gonna be extemely boring.

Correct. Every Nordic parliament consists of five or so different Social Democratic parties.

Plus, a few semi-communists.

And every political problem all kinds of problems are solved by growing public sector and govermental regulation.

I'm getting more and more convinced that we should just join together in a Nordic Union with icelandic as the Lingua Franca.

I love it!!  Icelandic as the French language--beautiful.

If you only knew what THE lingua franca was, you would appreciate the absurdity even more. I always get a kick when I hear American is the lingua franca.

Let me guess--it was either a) Frankish, b)Esperanto, or c) Urdu.

I'm not sure what orthonorm intended, but the term "lingua franca" was originally coined to refer to the mixed language (mostly Italian, but with other Mediterranean elements) used in Mediterranean trade during the Renaissance. "Franca" here means "Frankish" i.e. the generic Greek/Arabic term for "Westerner", since the main tradesmen were Italians. It doesn't mean "French" as we know it.

Of course, linguists now use the term to mean any language that enjoys widespread use, beyond the community of native speakers. Both English and French are examples.

Who ever knows what the orthonorm intended?  And yes, in spite of my colossal ignorance I'm aware of the etymology of "lingua franca".  But, thanks anyway for the info!
