Mr. Ed: "So what? I'd be winning if I hadn't swallowed my Bishop."

Wilbur: "Now, now Ed. No excuses. I'm winning fair and square."

Mr. Ed: "Big deal. So now you can tell everyone you beat a horse in chess."

As the illustrious Shaffer Chimere Smith exclaimed in the Frequency Modulatory machines in conjunction with his colleague Armando Perez:

This evening, I have a desire for everything emanating from your presence, this evening!
Let me possess the totally of all you are and have this evening!
In anticipation of our limited understanding, there is a possibility that the following day will not occur.
Therefore, we must engage in the aforementioned this evening!

Absolutely not. You should be able to get by though.

Most Europeans are not. The polyglottal European outside the Northern European who speaks his own language and English is an American fantasy.

And the closer you get to the Mediterranean the more monolingual, if they can even speak their own standard language, you get.

Then you get to Africa and people can speak all sortsa languages, just not English, IME.

Interesting (or not) antecdote. I was traveling around Europe when I was in college and met a girl who I chatted with for awhile while riding a bus in the Netherlands. I just assumed she was from the US, but when it came time for her to disembark, she commented that she was very thankful that I would talk with her and give her practice in speaking English.  Turns out she was from Luxemborg.  I just assumed she was an American because she was so good w/ "American English".  Once I got to Italy, I just had to struggle by with my limited knowledge of Italian and a handy translation book because none of them knew English at all or at least would not admit to knowing it..

ROFL.

Btw, I read today one Danish website at work. Your pronunciation is cryptic but I was kind of suprised to notice that I could actually understand something without any translation. And I had to survive without translation since Google seems to be unable to translate Danish into English.

I was also a little bit jealous since a Norwegian website was recommending to Swedish website without any translation in the sense of "Hey, the Swedish website has a lot more information about this than we have so why don't you check that one." Wouldn't work with Finnish.

whoa Cyrillic really is on my Athos?

Was. I came back just a few hours ago.

I can't believe that one of your first acts was to post here.  Dedication or obsession?

I was back for some 6 hours. I couldn't get some sleep, nobody was at home so I started playing some computer games. Then I browsed the internet and came here.

But I could tell for hours about everything I saw, heard and did. It was amazing.

I'm not sure whether that's a compliment.
