Thank you. The teaching and discussion there really cast some things into a new light. It turns out watching people argue on the internet isn't the best way to learn about a faith. Also, my local church has a relic of St. Paul, which I thought was pretty neat.

That's why my last thread is asking for book recommendations, getting tired of all the fake learning I get from the interwebs.

Very good. I'd already known one of the girls there from an RPG group, so it was nice to have a familiar face. We talked about icons a lot, so we got to go into the sanctuary which was beautiful. Got funny anecdotes about the traditionalist Russian iconographer's reluctance to depict women in the Resurrection scene. A lot of it was stuff I'd heard before in some form, but the way it was presented helped give me a fresh perspective on it. 10/10 would attend again.

hehehe you got it about the internet not being entirely the best way to learn about a faith. how awesome that your local church has St.Paul relics! you know i sometimes wonder what it must have been like for those in the Church of Ephesus to be taught by the Great Apostle himself for three years! I would truly appreciate it if you could mention my name to him, the next time you venerate his holy relics. Smiley

The Slippery Slope of Modalism

« Reply #14418 on: February 11, 2013, 03:18:41 PM »

Sigh, I am really struggling today. I found out some upsetting news and I am not sure what to do. At work right now and am having a hard time concentrating on anything else. Recently most of my good friends got transferred elsewhere and my one remaining close friend is out today.

In short, I am at a loss.

Sorta loath to put this out there with all the online privacy stuff as of late, but I don't how else to deal with this.

It's a long story and I can't get into all of it right now (trying to keep it together here at work), but the long and short of it is that something that matters a lot to me seems to have been treated with utter disregard and near abject hostility. And I just found out a few minutes ago.

Most of you who "know" can probably guess what I am talking about.

Yes, the brush off given to AserejƩ better known to some as The Ketchup Song by Las Ketchup.

This chart busting, iconic theme of wondermonths of mid 2002, has not been included in the CD / MP3 package Die Ultimative Chartshow - Hits des neuen Jahrtausends (2000-2009) although it held the number single position in Germany (and most of Europe) for months and even ended up winning the eighth position for most popular single on the German airwaves for the entire decade.

People can argue whether to include the combined sales of the Spanish, Spanglish, and Portuguese version in the final result, but no matter how you count its sales volume, who in those halcyon months wasn't doing the Ketchup Dance to music so transcendent that the gibes of cynical critics about its "gibberish" chorus didn't matter during the many moments moving in synch with strangers become one crossing race, nationality, sex, creed, and general common sense?

My only solace in this moment is that the top review on amazon.de points out this travesty:

Quote from: Mapro
Wie immer fehlen Songs aus der Show, dennoch klasse!*
Las Ketchup, The Ketchup Song
Eminem, Without me
Schnappi, Das kleine Krokodil (zum Glück!)
Silbermond, Das Beste
Madonna, Hung up
Kid Rock, All summer long
Katy Perry, I kissed a girl (weil sonst zwei Songs von ihr auf der CD wƤren)
Shakira, Hips don't lie (aus demselben Grund)
Nelly Furtado, Say it right (und wieder der gleiche Grund)

http://www.amazon.de/Die-Ultimative-Chartshow-Jahrtausends-2000-2009/dp/B0044ES45G

Whether we speak German or not, I am sure we can all agree with the above statements, which I attempt to render into English at the end of the post.

So in perhaps a gesture more symbolic than practical, I ask all those who care about me or about justice for one hit wonders throughout history to join in boycotting the purchase of what can only be conservatively described as a hate crime.

Thank you.

*As always, some of the songs are missing from the show [in the CD release]. Still, great!**

**Moment! Zum Teufel mit dir! Speinst du oder was? dennoch klasse . . . ***

***Wait a second. I'll see you in hell! Are you insanse? Still, great! . . . .

Here's a good topic for discussion.

Is Tallitot the most hated person on OC.net?

He's a Jew and gay. Everything OC.net loves right?

I guess that depends on whether or not there's a gay heretic dating a Jew.

Or, more specifically, maybe a gay heretic dating a convert to Judaism.

ZZ!!!<wave> great to see you again dear. hope you have been well.

Hi, Hiwot! Nice to "see" you, too! I have been well, thank you.  Smiley How are you doing?

I'll heading off to inquirers class in a few minutes.

Thank you. The teaching and discussion there really cast some things into a new light. It turns out watching people argue on the internet isn't the best way to learn about a faith. Also, my local church has a relic of St. Paul, which I thought was pretty neat.

Are you going to St. Paul's, by chance? I keep meaning to get down there.
Indeed. Perhaps we'll run into each other at some point. I'm hoping to make it to the Paschal vigil this year.

We probably will, eventually. Wink We've had a lot of schedule weirdness lately, but things seem to be settling down now. Hopefully soon we can get there.

Very good. I'd already known one of the girls there from an RPG group, . . .

That happens to me way too often. But I keep coming back. Like a zombie. Man, zombies are cool. And I find parodies of zombie movies, like Shaun of the Dead and Zombieland, pretty amusing!

Tallitots is gay? Makes sense...I don't see much straight men giving such good fashion advice on the pictures thread.
