To all those hundreds of people who sent PMs asking specific questions about life in my absence or wondering where I was.
Well it was holidays and a lotta stuff came up. And hasn't retreated per se.
You who matter will get a personal response in time. The rest. I am sorry.
And the dozen or so of you who were hoping that some calamity happened, keep your PMs cursing my existence to yourself.
Happy New Year One and All!

We cannot legislate morality by passing laws controlling firearms. The only evil we can combat lies within our hearts. We need stronger laws to protect the moral foundation of society against the evil of gay marriage.

It is an education process for me as I learn about the psychology of spiritual apostasy. And others get the benefit of perhaps hearing righteousness for the first time.

Sometimes, when I'm reading over older threads, I start wondering whether any of the posters who disappeared later came back and signed up under a new name*. Maybe I think of some people as being long gone, and I'm actually talking to them every day! *Note for those who don't know: you're not supposed to do that.

Well, the Spring Semester for me will begin soon. My second graduate semester in the History Department. Classes for this coming semester are Readings in Military History, Tudor and Stuart England, and Enlightenment France. Looking forward to all three, especially since I like all three professors.

Not only does it spare you an awkward knee bending motion, it gives you wonderful opportunity to be a smartass whenever somebody says they put their pants on one leg at a time, just like everybody else.

Seeing a hippo drinking from your toilet with a talking monkey in a spacesuit on his back is surreal. Well, moreso, yeah. But unexpectedly seeing somebody who still lived in Ohio to your awareness being on a New York talk show is pretty dang weird. Here's the clip, if anybody's curious about context: http://eater.com/archives/2012/01/13/watch-david-letterman-order-from-steak-n-shake.php

No. It's from All-Star Superman, which is in an alternate continuity. Lex gets a serum granting him Superman's powers, using it to escape the electric chair and go on a rampage. As the powers develop, he can see and hear how things are connected in ways he never imagined, and it finally dawns on him just how beautiful the world is and why Superman does what he does. Yeah.

We had an abbreviated service this morning. It was St. Anthony's Day, but we just had Orthros, with no Liturgy- Father never showed up. We didn't hear from him as to why. I hope everything is fine. He may have been called away somewhere at the last minute. I was kind of looking forward to receiving the antidoron today... well, next time, then.
