Orthonorm, I cannot tell you how much that is true, unfortunately. I am beyond embarrassed at my tendency to freeze in those five minute situations. Once I almost set my college apartment on fire (very long story) and I was standing there, screaming, while Mr. Ismi had to put everything out himself. I mean, he's a firefighter and everything, but come on. He just looked at me once the fire was out and I said, "Well, I would like to hope that I would have done something if you weren't here." Thank goodness my friends had left 30 minutes prior to that, or they would have been hysterical.

He kept staring. Anyway, I did marry him because I knew he would keep me alive in the zombie apocalypse.

Vamrat, I told him your idea (partly because I wanted to hear his response, partly because we have no Jaegermeister in the house right now), and he told me that he would need about 3 or 4 before he would get knocked out. I don't even want to try. Wink

3 or 4 is probably correct.  My buddy just used the liquid nyquil and took sips from both bottles.  Though, it must be stated, that his liver will be buried separately with full military honours.  Doesn't take much to knock me out.  Two Nyquil pills is as good as chloroform.

I know, right? I love Nyquil. It takes about that much to take me out, too. Glorious sleep. I hate working early mornings because the stuff makes me sleep until 10 or so, but it is oh so good.

And I promise that I mean to continue our PM conversation once I get off my tuz, maybe this weekend when I have a moment. It's one of my favorite topics and I want to spend some time working on a half-decent response. Yo.

Looking forward to it.  Nearing completion of Clash of Civilizations (so probably another month of reading).  Then I might pick up Solder and the State, though I still have 1491 to read, and have been thinking about re-reading Hot Zone after watching Contagion two nights ago.

T minus one to my mini trip!

Too bad I have to work all day.  Angry Hopefully a date with Mr. Ismi will be in the cards but we've got a big assignment starting at 6:30, so who knows. Sigh. When it rains, it pours.

A nugget of wisdom from the hip-hop world:

"Whatever you do, believe that you're the best at it. Even if you think you nothing, believe that you the best at being nothing."  -Lil' Wayne-

This wisdom was proffered shortly after he explains the art and benefits of drinking "Lean", which is a combination of codeine cough syrupm, Jolly Ranchers, and your favorite soft drink. Regarding "Lean", Lil' Wayne explains that it's actually beneficial because the cough syrup will keep you from getting a cold. He praises this "Lean" concoction with these words: "It's like a magazine: I'm a weekly prescriber."

Why am I wasting time with the Philokalia when I could be meditating on profundity such as this?

Lil' Wayne. A black guy totally riding Em's style(s) with that ridiculous overdone southern "accent". From bending to syncopation.

He ain't put together a rhyme structure Em ain't done first and his word play is about a whack as it gets. He even bites Em's word play, but just can get the any interesting metaphors or similes that I didn't hear in kindergarten.

And he can barely free. It's embarrassing.

Em is rap. Too bad when he was on drugs he didn't release his diss on Wayne. At least he used him to make some money.

Rap is a white boy's game who ain't no boy anymore.

The Game on why he didn't bring Em into his ****ing match with Dre and Co.:

lulz.

Follow the links as you see everyone say he is the greatest. Wayne won't be on no one's top 100 emcee's.

Pure junk.

Ha, sorry but West killed it with MDTF, and I didn't think he could get better after Late Registration. Love the ego and bravado and decadence and evilness.

That record straight up sounds like the workings of Satan, I couldn't stop laughing the first time I heard it, it sounded so demonic, chalk that up to his studio mastery.

Haters can hate on Wayne all day, fine. Da Drought 3 was one of my favorite mixtapes of recent.

I was actually meaning Achronos' deprecation.

And for the record, De La Soul is Dead is another slept on. SRSLY, like on van Winkle.

I did want to share that if Anime people were real they'd look terrible......or diseased.

akimori makoto is a real life anime character.
If you're saying he looks diseased, we need to take this outside.

No, I didnt mean that. lol.

What did you mean then? *Single eyebrow raised emote*

That you love anime. Wink

Well, you should obviously be on the 1 day out of the month I actually can get on chat, because I always get that question!

J/k. I don't have an issue saying in PMs/chats the state I live in, city if we are good enough internetz buddies, but I'd rather not post it on the board. Although I did reveal my approximate location once or twice, but that was because I was posting in a panic.

Back from vacation and back to reality...about to fall asleep in front of my computer while my boss is frantically g-chatting me. List of chores and all to do today. Yay Sad

Ok ladies, you got some 'splainin to do. Doctors. What's the deal with thinking they're the cat's meow?

- Work long hours
- Possibly have to be on call at all hours of the day/night
- Stressful work
- Exponentially greater potential of bringing some sickness home

So... basically you girls want a guy who is an sick a**hole who is never home.  Huh

(Apologies to any doctors on the board... but not really... but feel free to disabuse many of any ignorant assumptions)

Celtic, if that is supposed to be a hint, I would work on your subtlety. Just a friend? Wink

And *, L.M.A.O. I actually never saw the appeal of doctors. I was always pining after military men/police officers/anyone with a uniform including at one time my UPS delivery guy (scrubs and the white coat doesn't really count to me, though). And military men:

-Work really long hours
-Are away from the house for days/weeks/months/years at a time
-May possibly return changed
-May DIE at work.

It's the uniform, I guess. And the life-saving thing, perhaps... Smiley

IT IS FREEZING in my apartment. They are NOW replacing the boiler and it won't be up and running until the end of the week. It's only 69 degrees outside but for some reason it feels much colder in here. After finishing some work, I went into storage and pulled out all of my sweaters. It's a matter of time, anyway.

If a physician is brilliant, then they go into nephrology. Probably the only part of diagnostic medicine that requires much brain power. If they have a little brain power, they become intensivists.

The former will not work a lot of hours will be certainly capable at pursuing many interests (interesting), work regular hours, and make a tons of cash and not likely to bring home disease.

The latter could very well work odd and long hours and deal with a lot of burn out.

If you are REALLY smart in a practical way, you become an EM physician. The average work week is about 32 hours. Regular shifts. Not a lot of emotional baggage to bring home. If you move to a rural area you will probably increase your work hours by 1/3 and salary by a 100%.

I always wondered why House MD was a nephrologist.

Really, the kidneys are involved in EVERYTHING. Ask any non-glitzy physician you know about who are the truly brilliant docs, they are going to say nephrologists.

He also is board certified in infectious diseases.
