Firefox Problem
« on: December 18, 2005, 09:36:18 PM »
If anyone is familiar with Firefox, I am having a problem. I have this in the all my webpages:

<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="main.css">

and this is in my stylesheet:

body {background-color:#FFFFFF; margin-width:0; margin-height:0; margin-top:0; margin-left:0}
A:link {text-decoration: none; color="#02024B"}
A:active {text-decoration: none; color="#02024B"}
A:visited {text-decoration: none; color="#02024B"}
A:hover {text-decoration: none; color="#02024B"}
h1 {font-family:Arial; font-size:22pt; color="#02024B"}
h2 {font-family:Arial; font-size:12pt; color="#02024B"}
h3 {font-family:Arial; font-size:10pt; color="#02024B"}
h4 {font-family:Tahoma; font-size:8pt; color="#02024B"}
h5 {font-family:Arial; font-size:8pt; color="#02024B"}
h6 {font-family:Tahoma; font-size:7pt; color="#02024B"}
.underline {text-decoration: underline}
.center {text-align: center}
.left {text-align: left}
.right {text-align: right}

Now, the problem is while the font types and sizes are correct in the Firefox brower, the colors are all black. I have checked the Firefiox options, and have it set to use the site's colors, but it is still not working. Any ideas? (It works fine in IE)

I use almost the same thing, but I don't put quotes around my color codes, and there is no equal sign i.e.,

A:link {text-decoration: none; color="#02024B"}

would be

A:link {text-decoration: none; color:#02024B}

if it looked like mine.

That was the problem :)

IE will take an equals sign, but apparently Firefox doesn't!

Yeah, the equals sign is not CSS but was HTML code.  IE is famous for letting people slide by with old code, which on the surface sounds nice, but which results in really crazy bugs all over the place.  That's why it takes me so long to code for the frontpage, because IE, despite being the world's largest browswer, is also the world's most horrible browser that doesn't even follow the standards it agreed to with the W3c (governing board for internet standards)!!

Anastasios, are you designing the site's template to be a tableless, CSS design? (Or, at least as much as Joomla allows).  The last revision I put together for our parish web site (http://www.holy-trinity-church.org/) uses a three column CSS design, in which I guesstimate 60% of my effort was creating hacks to accomodate IE.  A couple of nagging bugs still remain.
